He had all the speed in the world against the Steelers and the Raiders early in the season. I think he's just worn out. That was pretty late in the game too.

Alright. Thats good to hear! I know he had a thigh injury that was nagging him for alot of the season too, so I'm sure that doesn't help either.

He's clearly lost a step. I've been saying it since the beginning of the season. A lot of Titans fans were/still are in denial about it though. But he hasn't looked the same all season long. Not even early on.

Yeah Allen had a good angle on him this past Sunday but there's no doubt in my mind '09 CJ would've taken that to the house. How many times in '08 and '09 did we see DBs have GREAT angles on him yet he still left them in a cloud of dust? I honestly haven't seen any of that this year.

I'm not sure if the dropoff is due to injury, poor offseason training, lack of passion or what. But if you think this is the same guy from last year you're kidding yourself. Don't get me wrong, he still a great back. And compared to the other backs around the league he's one of if not the fastest. But compared to CJ of seasons past, he's slow.

I just came on here to ask this question after noting a comment by Wyatt on his player rater on the Tennessean website. He commented on how it was odd that CJ was caught on that run against the Texans.

I think he has lost a bit of a step. He was so open on that run and last year would not have been caught. I wonder if all the pounding he takes early in games is wearing him down and slowing him down. Or, is the thigh more of an issue than we know.

All I know is he used to be untouchable if he had 5 yds on anyone...now he is getting caught and angled down.

I'm sure the pounding has an impact but he was showing signs early this season he'd lost a little of the explosiveness. I'm hoping he decides to do a little more work in Tennessee during the offseason.

I think this one is obvious. you don't get 350+ carries and come back as the same back the next season.

KC is doing it right with J.Charles.

+1....Im sure CJ had his new updated contract, he didnt want a backup in the game and he could handle all the work. We should have kept Lendale or Blount.

Maybe he has lost a step, but I still think Allen took a great angle. CJ was a caught from the side on a similar play yardage wise in '08 against the Bengals.
