CJ has clearly lost a step. i belive it is due to the fact that he has the ball in his hands to much. wether your running up the gut or out on the primeter, having the ball in your hands 400 times a season takes a big toll on your body.

its not like we dont have any other backs to give the ball to ether. ringer is a good complement to CJ and it would help CJ out a lot if ringer seen more carries. he would have less wear and tear on his body and it would force teams to scheme against both backs

I don't think he's really lost a step, I think he's just beat up. Look Fish thinks he's Eddie George or Blount the way he runs him. I mean how many 195 pound running backs get 30+ carries a game, primarily between the tackles. Fisher is getting him killed and his career will be shortened as a result at this pace.

Just one more nagging example of how our coaching staff just doesn't adapt to our players. The offense we run takes a George/Blount type of running back, a huge bruiser. CJ is more suited towards a spread offense which he can hit the edges more. Again, we should have kept Blount or at least give Ringer a lot more work. I can see why CJ held out for more money this year, the guy is not stupid but he knows Fisher is.

I don't think he's lost a step either, he's merely worn out is all. I'd like to see him back at 100% before I can determine if he's slowed down any. Teams are also spending hours on end trying to learn ways to contain him. So it's a bit of both him being banged up, and defenses funneling him back inside on most plays that has him looking slower.

First off, allen can run, always could.

In my opinion he's definitely lost a step. Sure it's very possible that he's slowed a bit thanks to the beating he's taken the last two seasons and the excessive number of touches he's had this year, but he just looks slower on almost every touch he's had this year even at the beginning of the year he looked slower (perhaps due to and elevated sense of indecisiveness), he just doesn't look like the same explosive runner like he did year 1 and even last year. I didn't watch the game, and after seeing the play on NFL films have to admit that was a great angle by Allen though !

Take into account that last year even with the touches this year, he had more last year, but he killed in the screen game. He's been ducking and dodging alot before getting started through the line of scrimmage. It really looks like the loss of kevin really hurt this team alot more than initially thought. Losing kevin meant moving amato and a total line shift and that has hurt the running game.

Yea he has lost a step which still makes him faster than most backs in the league... The real ugly question I think is what is his self life... that combined with a big salary demand... his trade value will not be any higher... I know that will freak everyone out but it's worthy of rational discussion.

CJ lost a step? Ha! Not a chance. His #s are down but that is a bigger knock on the O-line than CJ.

He was so great last year because our line was so great. It all started when Mawae wasn't re-signed and Amano took over @ C. Compare any game tape from last year and this year and this is very obvious. Kevin lead the line as a tough, strong, smart vet. He made his fellow lineman around him better. Amano is weak and makes the other guys have to pick up the slack.

And this is coming from a guy who said that we did the right thing by not bringing Mawae back, boy was I wrong.

It's worthy of rational discussion, but I think the only rational conclusion is that trading him would be a bad idea. You would never get back assets of equal value to what he brings to the Titans.

The Rams recieved 3 first rounders for Dickerson (whom I compare him the most too)...
