But amy..it SEEMS as though your placing our lack of success solely on VY. Jeff Fisher was here long before VY ever wore a titan uniform..and we've yet to do anything significant consistently..our lone bright spot was 1999. I wish I could share your optimism but I honestly dont see much changing with this team regardless of who is at qb unless with change our coaching staff..otherwise we'll be singing the same song just a different verse. Just my thoughts

 

I do not agree. Yes, we went to the Superbowl in 1999, but we also were 13-3 in 2000 (and lost to the eventual SB champion Ravens in what I considered the SB game that season...no one else came close to them in the postseason that year), played in the AFC Championship in 2002, made divisional round in 2003 (beating the Ravens, and coming VERY close to beating the eventual champion Patriots in Foxborough). Then salary cap purgatory hit, McNair/George aged and left, and the VY era was upon us.

Look, I am not saying that Fisher should be extended (after 17 years I agree that he is stale and should go), BUT, to say that he has not had any consistency or success outside of 1999 is just wrong.

 

For me, its not only just about defensive stats. Its not just about being one of the worst defenses in the NFL 2 seasons in a row under Cecil. It IS about the fact that I sit here watch every game and shake my head at the lack of adjustments, only to have players complain about the same thing once the season is over. Its is apparent that there is a coaching issue on the defensive side of the ball. If Cecil stay on for '11, it will just be another example of Fisher not making the right decision for the good of the team.

I dont think its wrong mike...we just disagree. IMO we've been consistently mediocre throughout his tenure..with just enough playoff appearances here an there to keep some people feeling like we're "right there". But overall he hasn't done much and hasn't shown the ability or willingness to change to truly get this team where it CAN be.

I have a feeling you will be disappointed alot then...that stretch between 1999-2003 was pretty strong.

However, it is not 2003 anymore, and, given how Fisher handled the VY situation (which was not good either), coupled with my opinion on how he has held on to assistants who underachieve and his lack of ability to adjust to changing game situations these days he should be replaced next year...no disagreement there.
