First off, anyone would be better than collins, i do support that. But, Adams wants to win now, not lets wait for another 2 years to get a rookie qb to learn behind Orton. Adams needs to spend the money and go out and get someone big. Manning, give up ur 1, 2, 3 rd picks for the next 2 years for manning, anything. Honestly, right now, there is NO qb worth the risk we are taking in droping young and keeping fisher. If we do not get a top 10 qb in the league, then the move was pointless. Kolb- lost his starting job, if he was so good he would have been playing. McNabb- i doubt that fisher will give this guy a try, fisher is moving away from those types of players it seems like. ??? Orton- really guys, he lost his starting position to grossman and tebow. alex smith- the name says it all. i can not think of any other qbs that would be great besides the number 1 qbs for each team right now. what other backups are good? Help me out guys.

ooking at Kolb, he is about two years younger than Orton and probably has a bit more talent.

I would say that orton is more steady, whereas i think kolb could break out given more time.

So sign me up for kevin kolb instead, especially if we are trading a second rounder. i think kolb might be able to be a franchise guy

The only sustained play that we have to go on with Kolb is 4 games in a row this year. Orton has several seasons to judge him by.

Kolb was a high 2nd rd pick and i think the Eagles will ask more for him than Denver will ask for Orton.

Kolb is not more of a downfield passer than Orton his average yards per pass attempt is just 6.5 and he has more picks in his career than Tds. 7 and 7 this year.

The truth is there are (not surprisingly) no obvious franchise QBs available in free agency or for trade. But the very good news is there are several guys who have done enough to give some confidence that at worst they could manage an offense and be productive. Throw the CJ factor and a decent pass-blocking line into the equation and guys who have some question marks might just take off in TN.

McNabb has a pretty impressive resume, with a career that's winding down. But if you can protect him he can still move an offense.

Orton has averaged over 3,000 yards in the past 3 seasons with almost a 2-1 TD-INT ratio, but certainly struggled at times recently. Collins finished the year with some decent games, even though he could be Orton's father and had a bad finger. If KC can almost get it done here Orton could certainly get it done.

Kolb doesn't have the production of the others, but his chances have been limited and mostly without DeSean Jackson on the field. For his trade price tag maybe not worth it, but there's reason to think he could be a solid QB.

Leinart had the college production and then struggled in ARI. Ok, but what QB doesn't struggle early on? Preseason is preseason, but he certainly looked better in HOU then. And if Fisher likes his skillset he's more likely to use it in TN.

Throw in the crop of other FA QBs who have at least some NFL starts (Bulger, Edwards, Jackson, Gradkowski, Volek, Grossman) and overall it's not the worst time to be looking for a safety valve at QB. Every one of those guys has question marks, but almost all have also been asked to do too much at times. Hard to believe CJ in the backfield couldn't make at least 1 of these FAs look much better. Throw Britt in and we might find something to work with, knowing at worst Collins can lose 6 games for us.
