I'm not saying he's not interested, but if your DREAM job is to work as a coach for your Alma mater, you've accepted the position, have purchased a house and probably sold your family on settling back in Texas, it won't be an easy decision.

Not saying he won't come, but I don't think it's a lock like Matthews or Bush.

Who exactly is he anyway? Should we care if he leaves Texas?

Not a big Gray fan. Maybe, just maybe, a decent db coach, but not dc. Would look just like Fishers D. And dont get me wrong, I love Fisher, I just want to see an entirely new product out there. We've opened the can and stirred it, lets dump it out and get a new one. Start over completely. If im not mistaken, Grays strength as a player was a small, nimble, quick return man..??

Jerry Gray was the defensive coordinator of the Buffalo Bills from 2001 to 2005. In 2003 and 2004, the Bills had the 2nd ranked defense. It was only in his last year was the defense truly poor (29th), and many would ascribe the poor performance due to an onslaught of key injuries. It's also important to note that he had some great defensive talent on those teams (Spikes, Winfield, Clements, Williams, etc). He has been the defensive backs coach for the Redskins and most recently, the Seahawks in 2010.

BUT, most Titans fans should know his name from prior to the 2001 season, where he was a defensive backs coach for the Titans in 1999 and 2000. You know, the one where the pass defense was ranked best in the NFL, and players named Samari Rolle and Blaine Bishop were named All-Pro.

He is, in my mind, a very underrated coordinator who did some great things with the Bills in the early to mid '00s and did good things in a very limited time here. I prefer him to someone like Mangini.

Was this not the same Gray returning kicks for the Lions during the Barry Sanders era??

And let's not forget who hired him (basically took him with) in Buffalo. Gregg Williams. Pretty big endorsement if you ask me.

No idea about the lions but very impressed with his defensive rankings as a coach, bring him back!
