First of all, I count myself a fairly old school Oiler fan. Not as far back as Earl Campbell mind you but from the early Moon years say '85 or '86. Anyway, I'm really happy seeing some of the all time great Oilers becoming entrenched into the Titans coaching ranks. I was a huge Munch/Matthews fan as well as all the greats like Moon, Givens, Dishman, Childress you name it.

Munch is really taking the bull by the horns and seems to be calling on all the amazing current coaches that he once played with. I know Gray just stopped by Houston for a cup of coffee, just returned kicks from what I recall. Gray was an amazing corner and obviously Matthews is the best guard/center of all time. I sure would love to see him reach out to Moon about taking our QB coaching position. Moon threw the prettiest ball I've ever seen and has been in many different offensive systems, he'd be the perfect guy to come in and mentor a young group of QB's who we're bound to have. Does anyone have other opinions about any other Oiler greats who would make good coaches for the Titans? I wonder what Ray Childress, Sean Jones, Al Smith and Lorenzo White are doing now?

It's kinda strange. Like a reunion of the old times.

I am not a complete old timer here, but I do remember loving them (or hating the Steelers) in the "Luv ya Blue" days. It is interesting to see former players from that era coming back (potentially).

Not that this would happen, but it would be very cool if Munchak brought back the 88year old Bum Phillips to be some honorary position (much like Red Schoendienst is with the Cardinals in MLB). Won't happen....just a nostalgic late night thought.

I loved Munch and Mathews playing guards in Front of Moon in the Pro Bowl every year. (funny I think Mawai was between them once at center). At first, I didnt like the HC hire at all. I thought it was gonna be more of the same old thing. Munchak has now shown he is perfectly capable of dropping the hammer and shaking things up. Im really warming up to this fast.

Makes you wonder if Much doesn't like a more open offense like they had back in the Moon days. The old run and shoot which is called a spread today was very effective when you had the right people and with Moon, a good o-line and quality WRs it was very effective.

I'm not saying he wants to go full spread like Moon ran but that he sees positive elements of that and the QB to run that offense could be Cam Newton.

Awesome thread. I consider myself to be an old school Oiler guy and I love the idea of Munchak bringing in Matthews to coach the O-line, Moon to coach the QBs and Childress to coach the D-line. It'd also be sweet to add Eddie as RBs coach. Not just because these guys were great Oilers players but because I think that they could really do well here. These guys all used to go to battle together and I love the idea of them doing that now as coaches.

I have a really good feeling about the way things are shaping up.

That goes along with Munch saying "we like people who take ownership of this franchise"
