QB Matt Flynn would be perfect for us.

I think a 4th for Flynn would be fair. Maybe we could even get him for a 5th. I mean is Flynn going to see any playing time over the next few years? Probably not. The Packers might as well get some compensation for him, because he'll likely leave whenever he's a free agent.

I say we trade a 4th or 5th for Flynn.
Pick-up a vet QB, like Chad Pennington or Kerry Collins for a 1 year deal.
    Keep Rusty.

Flynn starts, vet backups, Rusty develops (will backup next year).

Not saying I love this idea, but it's an option...

It's possible but I don't see Bud willing to give up a third-round pick (assuming it'll take that to get Flynn) and give him QB a long-term deal, bring in a vet who will want, at least, a three-year deal and use an early pick on a rookie who will be the #3.

You almost have to either go with Flynn and Collins or go with the vet who can buy you a couple of seasons while using a high pick at QB in the hope he's ready to challenge by year two.

If finding a franchise QB was as easy as you seem to think it is then everyone would have one. There are 32 teams in the NFL. 6 or 7 of them have real, legit franchise QBs. Less then 30 QBs in the history of the NFL have one a Super Bowl. Do some homework, Jesse.... QB's don't just grow on trees. They're incredibly hard to come by.

^^ Which is why its not such a bad idea to give the one we have a chance. Atleast we know what to expect on the field. Whether we're heading in a different direction or not at QB, don't throw away next season.

Why hasn't anyone brought up Sage Rosenfels yet? He's very accurate, throws a decent deep ball, has good pocket presence, and most importantly would be a cheap acquisition. He probably could be had for a 6th or 7th round pick.

If healthy Dennis Dixon would be worth a look also. He definitely has potential and would make a good backup. Obviously he'd be a risk because of the injuries and he's unproven but he has a ton of talent. He's only had three starts thus far and all were against top level defenses but surprisingly he held up pretty well.

Because he couldn't beat out Tavaris Jackson.

Were talking about a Brad Childress led team here. He was brought in to be the starter and then Favre started to flirt with the team and the rest is history.

He definitely would not be our QB of the future but would be able to man the ship for two to three years until we acquire our franchise QB. The two big knocks on him however are that he's turnover prone and isn't a winner.

Let's face it this isn't a great QB draft and the free agent QB's are nothing to write home about.

Dennis Dixon and Matt Flynn. Let them battle for the starting job. Wait to draft a QB until next year.
