So, his team was essentially the Texans of the UFL.

You mean good offense and no defense?

Speaking of logic...logically that catch was all Tyree as that pass should have never been thrown. When you have that much time left and two timeouts, you don't lob it like that in the middle of the field with your eyes closed. Even throwing it away should have been the better option since they would have had another down. And keep in mind the play right before that was a bad throw by Manning followed by a dropped game ending interception. Luck will happen sometimes. *shrugs*

And Joe Buck is made for calling baseball, not football, he had a chance to make history after that catch and completely blew it. Should have been Gus Johnson in the booth that day, now that would have been epic to the max. :D

“I was able to talk to a number of candidates and Chris was the coach who fit what I was looking for,” Titans coach Mike Munchak said in a news release.

Got to admit, the first thing that crossed my mind when I read the bold part was that Palmer was the first coach who did not have a head coach that told Munchak to F off when approached....third time a charm, I guess.

However, I agree that to lay blame on him for Couch and Carr is oversimplifying things. Couch threw off of his back and/or with a bum arm for much of his career. Carr had no line, and just flat out held on to the ball too long (something he still does to this day, which at this point is tough to blame on Palmer).

I am not dancing in the streets over this, but I am willing to give Munchak the benefit of the doubt over this, especially given that (despite all of the spinning about this) Palmer was pretty much his third choice here.

And Palmer just could turn out to be the best. As good as any coach is, if the players he's in charge of have sorry attitudes and few operating brain cells, it's really difficult to get them to do what you want. I have no problem with this hire. Do we know how many years on his contract? Not many, I would assume.

We have to have some faith in Munch that he would only hire somebody who can do the job. It obviously reflects on him how well his coaches do their jobs.

It's clear he wanted an OC with extrensive experience and the only ones we know that he considered were also former head coaches. That's the kind of guy he wanted.

Yes. Also a key difference is that Washburn stayed at the assistant level primarily by choice. He recognized his talents at HC diplomacy were limited.

It would be nice if Palmer were similar. At 61, his career as a HC has been an egg. Hopefully, he only lacks diplomacy and not talent, smarts or motivation that has prevented him from achieving more on his resume. He did coach a SB team as an assistant but has been equally as unimpressive.

I view this hire as a temp job because other options were limited. I have a feeling he is a one and done (maybe two and through) kind of OC.

The Titans are going to be the new laughingstock of the NFL! This hire is an abomination, but hopefully even this crazy old man cannot screw up an offense with Kenny Britt and Chris Johnson in it. This hire is a joke.

The head coach hire was a joke, the d-coordinator is better than the other hires but still not that great...Bud Adams can go die now so we can fire all these clowns after this season and put up some real money and get some REAL coaches.
