I high fived you for wanting Vince back. Anybody who wants to have the best team possible in 2011 should want Vince back. Pennington, Collins, or Rusty aren't gonna cut it. There's still a lot of time, but options are very limited.

    As far as the holes...

MLB? Tulloch? He was 2nd in the league in tackles. He's not supposed to be a coverage guy in a 4-3 scheme.

OLB ~ McGrath is solid. Spoon is decent but we need a backer good in coverage. I agree with you here.

DE ~ Our starters are solid. Ford is good, Morgan is good. We could use depth but its not an urgent need.

DT ~ Our Dline is good. With a run stopping DT they could be great again. Our Dline is better than over half the lines in the league as is.

SS ~ Spot on. Weakest link. Unfortunately we had a coach who let players "campaign" for playing time and we didn't get to see our backups.

I see fixing the defense being as simple as drafting a SS who can play right away and drafting a run stopping DT who can play right away.

If we have a SS who can cover we can cheat him up and have him cover TE's. Or we can adjust our defensive schemes to bracket TE's. There's no excuse for how we got exposed by TE's last year. That goes on the coaching.

And yes I know football. Played since 3rd grade all the way through college and I still play today.

There are ways to make this team better and get rid of VY, but I'm tired of getting into it. I'll just say that just because he is cut/traded, does not mean this team will be worse in 2011.
As far as the rest...i agree on keeping Tulloch, depending on his cost of course. If he is asking for too much then he should be replaced. Other needs to touch on are:

DE/DT: Ford does not fit the new scheme...Id be all for getting a bigger DT and moving Jason Jones to DE though. That can be addressed either in the draft, or through FA with Alan Branch or Barry Cofield.

OLB: I agree, we need a better coverage LB here. I'm hoping we can land Bruce Carter in round 3, but it's unlikely he slides that far.

SS: I agree..huge need, the 2nd biggest behind dline in my opinion. Deandre McDaniel, Tyler Sash, or Jerron Johnson in the draft are all nice options after round 1.

RB: We need a bruiser to take the pounding off of CJ. Le'Ron McClain, Willis McGahee, or someone in the draft. This has to be addressed this offseason.

C/OG: The interior of our oline was a huge weakness last year.

Veteran leadership: This is the one thing the team did not take into account enough when Mawae, Bullock, and KVB walked out the door. We have zero leadership in the locker room now.

^^ I agree with pretty much everything you said. It was nice to throw in some draft options because I'm not a college football fan.

No problem man..I absolutely LOVE the draft...and surprisingly, my wife does too. She watches the entire first round with me every year. But we watch a lot of college football. Check out these picks, I just posted this on the draft thread, but it meets all of our needs...It's from Walterfootball.com

    #8 Nick Fairley DT Auburn
#39 Christian Ponder QB Florida St
#77 Deandre McDaniel SS Clemson -the #1 rated SS in the draft
#108 Nate Irving MLB NC State

I don't think the draft could work out anymore perfect for us.

    I'm trusting your expertise...

Position wise that'd be spot on. We get our QB of the future while addressing our defensive needs. I'd 2nd your vote

The only thing it does not address is OLB, but I would not complain about that with the upgrades it would give us at dline and SS. McDaniel and Griffen would be fun to watch back there. It would also be great to pair Fairley with his college dline coach, Tracy Rocker. With it looking more and more likely that both Gabbert and Cam go ahead of us, it makes it more likely that Fairley slides.

Right now the Titans remind me of an already used jigsaw puzzle. You know that the end result can be an amazing picture, but until you start working it, you've no idea what pieces are there, what pieces are missing, or how long it'll take to put it all together. A pessimist will say you are clearly missing some vital pieces, so why bother? An optimist knows those pieces might turn up where you least expect them, like under the sofa.

I'm actually looking forward to the upcoming season, assuming there is one. Win or lose, I think it's going to be very interesting!

only thing i hate about the draft is when they show the players on the phone smiling right before the team announces it's pick, i rather keep it secret until it's announced imo. makes it more fun.

Agree completely. I also wish they would bring back the all day Saturday drafts as I can sit and drink and eat and watch draft picks for 24 hours.

that would be a very good draft. nate irving is a monster but we could use an outside backer more or just move him to outside.. i like the idea of keeping tully. yea he cant cover a pass but replacing him will mean we replace something like 170 or 80 tackles and veteran presence. i like gerald mcrath. hopefully they can get coached up this offseason in pass coverage. if they ever get to meet their new coaches.
