Occasionally one QB falls in the draft and the media makes a big deal of it. Overall, quarterbacks are overwhelmingly taken earlier in the draft than the value would dictate. To suggest that there is any kind of a trend involving teams waiting to select quarterbacks is simply false.

Drafting Locker will set this franchise back 3-4 years . . . didn't we learn from Young. Athletic, poor accuraccy, poor mechanics, and this guy has far worse college numbers than Young . . . and played against worse defenses. Please don't draft Locker MR . . . please . . .

See this is why people shouldn't look at college stats.

    Locker:
    -No WR's
    -No TE
    -Barely any help at RB
    -Terrible OL
-Talent level of team wasn't very good yet still some success

So looking at his stats they may not be impressive but he had nothing to work with. If we were going off production in college the QB's from Hawaii would be dominating the league not Manning and Brady. He has a great work ethic, leadership, smart, uses common sense, always looking to improve, and leaves everything on the field.

    Young:
    -Offense went through him
    -Great cast of players
    -Played at great program
-Relied on his legs and his passing did well at the college level

Now I used to be a huge VY fan so don't mistake me for one of his haters but the guy pretty much screwed this franchise. He has no work ethic, no maturity, dumb, no leadership, had barely any support in the locker room, and didn't lead by example. He got in fights at strip clubs instead of getting ready for the season and when he was playing walked off the field because he wasn't playing well.

I'd rather have Locker than other QB in this draft. But it's going to be tough for me to accept some of the D talent we could pass up to draft him.

We'll see. I'll certainly fully support him. Just not sure this is the year to draft a QB in either of the first two rounds.

    Um...

Dude, are you really playing the race card?

I understand YOUR frustration since you are driving the Cam Newton band wagon and here is a thread on the Titans considering him at #8, but come on. Color? REALLY?!?!?!?

One COULD make the argument that the Titans might prefer Locker for several reasons. He was not a 1 year wonder, he played in a more pro style offense, he knows how to drop back fairly well, he also has a strong arm, he knows how to call and adjust his own protections, knows when to adible to hot routes/change routes based on reading the defense, is a team leader, everything out of his mouth is about wanting to get to work so he can be a great QB. Now, I'm CERTAINLY NOT saying I think Locker is a better prospect. I don't think he's as good. I'm saying there are things that Locker does that Cam doesn't or has less experience in and some could point to those things as there case for taking Locker over Newton.

Doesn't mean race has any bearing on any of this.

I don't like either QB at #8 but if I HAD to choose between these two guys, I'd take Newton every time.

    Um...

Why do you think Mallett would have attitude problems with his team mates? From everything I've read and heard, his teammates speak pretty highly of him. And while it's a small thing, if you watched the college all-star competition, Mallett seemed to get along with all of them and bond with the guys - both QB's and everyone else.

He reminds me of Rivers. Big personality and may get into it with his coaches behind closed doors, but bonds with his teammates well.

Gabbertt is the one who reminds me of Leinart. He takes the calculated answer and tries to smile a lot. I like Ponder's personality and demeanor. He seems confident, respectful but also truly enjoying this.

    You're kidding...

    You are joking, right?

IF you were right and Locker were some Tom Brady stuck with absolutely no talent around him (and forgetting that the Manning's and Brady's make the players around them BETTER), Locker should have clearly elevated himself at the Senior Bowl where he had an excellent OL and WR's.

    HE DIDN'T!

NOT IN PRACTICE DURING THE WEEK NOR IN THE GAME!

    So much for THAT argument....

And with no pocket and no pressure and setting his feet right, he still showed serious accuracy problems at the college all-star challenge, the senior bowl game and practices and at the combine.

He's had lots of opportunities to show he's the top 5 pick some people thought he was last year. We haven't seen it! And I didn't even mention his Wonderlic...

I like his work ethic and leadership, but he has some serious flaws that should kick him to at LEAST the 2nd round and I wouldn't take him even there.

Make a convincing case Locker is even better than Kaepernick!

I concur. If you mess up, Mallet will let you know about it, but I see him doing it in Kobe like fashion than Ryan Leaf.

I honestly didn't have a problem with his interview, he was just being real opposed to giving the boring generic Peyton "work hard, study hard" responses.

Gabert and Locker will be the 1st QB's taken.

Newton will fall hard imo after people seen the Gruden interview.
