If Harper is only an average RB exploding through the hole or burst off the edge the fact he can block, catch the ball and take a handoff without fumbling is a big lift for the offense. The defense focusing on CJ I think will open up some real nice opportunities for this kid to make big plays.

I just know RB's don't like the idea of becoming full-time blockers. So I wonder what's to become of Harper if we try him at FB, and he resists. Leading up to the draft he was asked about this, and said he's a RB.

Fake fullback dive, quick pitch to CJ going the other way.

Fake fullback dive, fake pitch to CJ going the other way, fullback screen to Harper.

Fake fullback dive, fake pitch to CJ, curl route to D Will with Britt streaking over the top after selling the run.

I like our options with Harper.

This only works if he gets a couple of "FB Dives" regularly to the point teams game plan against it.

I think if we fun it enough it could be deadly. If your playing a 4-3 and they keep they're LB's in tight you can kill them with the pitch. If they cheat out the dive can kill them. You could almost run it as an option. And I forgot about Locker's mobility. You could option out and put the OLB on an island with Locker and CJ.

Or you could roll out of the fake dive with CJ swinging into the flats and some nice crisp routes from the WR and Cook on the play side.

CJ's speed coupled with a mobile QB and a fast TE gives us a lot of play options to keep the defense off balance.

Indeed it does, but we need this dumb lockout lifted so we can set things in motion, and work towards being competitive.

I agree man. Kinda pissed that the owners are still holding out. It's a pretty big statement for the judge to rule overwhelmingly in favor for the players. I think the fans should start to speak up and put some pressure on the owners.

I'm starting to get excited about our 2011 season. New coach, new QB, new attitude.

We've got some talent. If we use it correctly we should be right in the division hunt next year. All we need is a game managing/ stop-gap QB to mentor Locker and we're set.

That's all a FB is in the nfl these days. It became that way because it became illogical to have a 2nd back on the field unless he could block really well.

If you want another receiver than bring in a WR. 2 back offenses in the tradition sense like the split backfields from the 70s and 80s are gone.

In 1986 and 1987 the Bears played a halfback(Neal Anderson) at fullback simply because he was too damn good to keep on the bench. I guess if you had both Eddie George and Chris Johnson FB would be a way to get Eddie in the game. Is Harper that essential a player that we have to force him out there like that?

Maybe he is a third down back.

Here we are already compromised with a TE who can't block well in Cook can you imagine also having a Fb who can't block? CJ would love that.

Yea unless Harper blocks as well as Hall, or close to it (which he won't), we better retain Hall. Otherwise C.J. is getting ready to leave soon. Once Eddie George lost Neal, he was not the same.

Who remembers how hard the Titans were to beat back in 99 & 2000 when Neal was paving the way for Eddie... We were good back then. Keep Hall, get Harper some touches.

I agree. some say that FBs are being phased out. I disagree. FBs are being phased out on teams like the Packers, Colts, and Saints where they have no running game. For almost every great RB you will find a great FB paving the way.
