Even if his position remains as a DT, look for him to be lined up at DE regularly.

I think superstar is way over the top. Solid player yes.

I like tall defensive linemen, guys who are 6'5 or taller. I think Jones' height serves him better inside and his speed is more unusual on the inside than if he played on the outside. Don't get me wrong he would be a good player anywhere you put him and i love guys like that.

He gets his hands on passes also with that height. 3 this year and 5 last year and he can block a kick. He blocked one at Eastern Mich.

One thing that about Jones is that he has never been a big sack guy. He only had 3.5 his last year at Eastern Mich playing outside at DE against MAC tackles. The consistent pressure will always be there but it is doubtful that he could be a guy who gets 10 sacks a season.

Somebody compared him to Trent Cole. That is an interesting comparison because Cole was a nose tackle at Cincinnati and moved outside in the pros because he didn't have the size to play inside. Jones of course played outside at college and moved inside.

I don't think there is a problem with Jones fitting any scheme the problem is if the scheme benefits him. Will having the left end lined up tighter and playing a more disciplined style help or hinder Jones? Seems like having a guy like Babin lined up wide and exploding up the field every play creates more space for a fast guy like Jones. I could be wrong.

JJ's versatility could make him a match-up killer.

The nice thing about Jason Jones playing inside as a DT is that his 4.7 speed goes a lot further than if he was coming off the edge. And as RollTide mentioned, that height allows him to get in passing lanes creating deflections that maybe just maybe, our LB's can take advantage off and catch. I like him at DT because of how well he shoots the gaps, but like the idea of him staying healthy as a DE.

What I really like about J Jones is his strength. He's not as fat or husky as DTTB but he gets just as much if not more push than he does. He's not too heavy but he still gets great push and is relentless. I love that about him.

  6. It would be nice if he could stay healthy for a change.

That's not from being strong. That's from engaging in a blocker while the blocker is still making his way upright. Jones is great inside because of how quick he gets going. That's why Marks was drafted. They thought he would be able to shoot the gaps like Jones. Boy were they wrong.

Still dude is strong considering he's 275 going against 300+ lb OL. He's looked better than DTTB. But both need to stay healthy.

we will see how good JJ is once the attention is taken off the rest of the crappy team. get everything running smooth and JJ will start making a name for himself.

I like JJ's versatility. We could easily use him as a 3 or 6 technique DL. I think we'll see him used a lot more at DE this year. He'll probably be bumped inside on passing downs and outside on running downs.
