We've got a mobile, athletic, durable QB and a lot of young weapons on offense.

At RB we have the fastest RB in the league who can create nightmares if he gets in space.

At TE we have one of the faster TE's in the league and a downfield threat who can go up and get the ball.

At WR we have a rising star in Britt (if stays out of trouble), a great possession receiver in Damien Williams and some depth in Washington, Hawkins and Mariani.

What do you want to see us do on offense this year? How do you think Locker can help us out the fastest? Who do you think will step up on offense this year?

Since Jake Locker is nearly as fast as Vince, I suspect the offense will make the most of that. We know the QB-Option only works in the NFL if you have 2 guys like Young & Johnson, so I don't see why we wouldn't turn to that at times when we have Locker & Johnson. Dinger underestimated the personnel big time! I think Palmer will do the exact opposite of that and call everything until something doesn't work. Munchak has said several times that he's going to prepare this team for anything and everything they could ever see in a live game.

I want to see swing passes, tosses, outside running and yards after the catch. I want a ball control offense that is MORE RELIANT on the short pass, timing patterns, EC. I need CJ to me more of a Marshall Faulk kind of RB. He obviously has the speed. I'd like to see some decent pass blocking too. Is it just me or does it seem like in the past, situationally, the play could be predicted reasonably close, pre-snap, because of personnel? I could be totally wrong about that but it seems like CJ isn't much of a pass blocker and more often than not he was toting the rock... and too often it was up the gut. I'm tired of that. I'd like to get away from this running on 3rd and 5 crap. Actually, I'm tired of 3 and long situations too....

I suspect we'll see more of the same with OLB containing CJ to run inside. What has to happen is Cook to become the impact player that will force those OLBs into coverage. Britt is going to need to be big enough a threat to keep the safeties honest.

In short, the passing game has to improve.

It will all hang on the play from Center.

Amano was a weak link that brought the whole line into question.

I want to see Harris at Centre and Velasco at Guard. Amano is a back up level player.

I want to see them on the field together this year. Sooner we get some growing pains out of the way the sooner we will know what we have in Locker and can hopefully build from there. Seems like with Vince we only ran about 20 different plays, and he didn't have the smarts/coaches trust to audible. Locker can learn 20 plays, and should even have a few audibles...However this lockout has us by the short and curlies so I really don't have any expectations of some high powered offense, but I think it could be as exciting as it has been previously.

I think Locker is faster than Vince, straight line. Vince had more wiggle than people gave him credit for, but Locker seems to have better awareness. Hard to say until we see him in the NFL though. Both are great athletes. I want to see if Locker can be a great passer. That will be the key.

As for the offense, take advantage of Locker's ability to move the pocket. The defense will play contain, so fakes and such probably won't work. CJ got a lot on cutbacks in his 2k year, so teams are shutting that down. Take advantage of that with good blocking at the POA, and CJ will get some yards.

Play action will be the key though. Locker MUST be able to beat a defense over the top, because they WILL stack the line against him.

He's not. Vince ran a 4.4 at his combine and has absolutely slowed down. Locker ran a 4.5 at his combine. And actually, Locker is more agile. He use to play RB from the QB position. Well maybe you could be right after all. I'm not sure what Vince could clock in at now if he ran a 40, but we know Locker is a little slower coming in than Vince was his rookie season.
