Locker ran at the Combine. I don't think Vince did. He did run at a pro day. So it's hard to compare. In any case, they are both very fast, especially for their size. Locker is definitely a threat to run, and he's not scared of contact. Vince DID seem to be (at least after his rookie season; maybe he took a few too many hits!). That's not necessarily good for Locker. Just pointing it out.

Vince had a nice deep ball. I'm less sure about Locker in this regard. However, Locker is better at throwing on the run. Vince wasn't great at that, and that's pretty important for a mobile QB. Will Locker have more touch on his short/intermediate? I don't know. We'll have to see.

But we all know that what will make or break Locker is whether he can take advantage of the way defenses scheme for CJ. Vince couldn't. Locker is an unknown in this area right now.

You guys are selling CJ short in pass blocking I think. The guy is only 191 lbs and he holds his own. Yes he'll miss some blocks but he usually buys the QB JUST ENOUGH time to get the pass off.

Vince alsys looked pretty good throwing the deep ball, but he had soo many atrocious short throws it was dumbfounding.

I agree, he may not pancake anyone, or hold a block for a super long time, but pretty rarely does he completely whif.

He also had one of the worst throwing motions of the class. Locker is among the best this year.

We need to stop teams from putting 8 in the box...period. That is the chess match.

We need CJ to become a major pass catching threat and not simply on flares. He needs to attack the flats and running crossing routes and angle routes. We need to give him more screen passes too.

Playaction is gotta be how we move the ball outside of the run. Easier reads for the QB and Locker can always scramble for some yards. That means our WR's on intermediate to deep and our TE's owning the short to medium area. Cook must be a major pass catching weapon or he need not be on the field.

Everything will boil down to a few things. First, can our interior run blocking be good. It was bad and ruined our whole offensive gameplan. Despite what the coaching staff said and seems to think...I don't think Harris and Amano are up to the job and if they get upgraded, Scott would then be the weak link (although not a painful one). Palmer will want to POUND the rock and supplement it with a controlled passing attack so we can pick our spots with Locker, not constantly forcing him to throw into 3rd and long. Locker needs a lot of work on reading defenses and making quick/good decisions. Too much of his tape he seems slow to process and is too late seeing the open man. Then the fans are blaming the WR's that they aren't open.

Depending on the vet brought in, I'm not sure Locker is ideal to be our starter game 1...especially if the lockout goes on for awhile.

The worst scenario is the lockout goes on til right before the season and then only a couple weeks training/pre-season without enough time for Locker to play. We start the vet and have a bad year. Then have potentially the first pick without even knowing what we have in Locker. If Andrew Luck is sitting there and we have the first pick, you trade the pick for a King's ransom or you draft Luck. This is WHY I didn't want to draft a QB this year.

I don't expect to see much from Locker this year seeing as we will prob sign a veteran Qb to start for this year and maybe next.

I want to see an opening drive that starts with a 15yd completion to Britt. We did that last year with VY and it seemed to work. In fact we had one of the top offenses. My wish is we make the running game secondary. I believe CJ will be most dangerous if he was on a pass first team. You put CJ against a defense in pass coverage and you'll see all those 60 yd runs we got used to seeing in 09.

Interesting because VY didn't run at his combine. Where did you get that number?

Just figured I will put this in this thread considering the numbers that are thrown out. In any case, as everyone else said Vince did not run the 40 at the combine, but he did run the 40 at his pro day. I pulled up an article that has Vince running the 40 in 4.58 seconds making him slower than Locker.

You also have to consider his pro day was probably manually timed where as Locker's combine results were electronically timed. In short Vince can be slightly faster or slower than his numbers (probably slower) where as Locker's numbers are fairly accurate.
