Well obviously they will lose a larger amount of dollars, but they will not be losing more relative to their already existing wealth.

For the short-term that's true, but a player can only play for so long. Owners can own a team for as long as they please.

i read a while back in a ESPN Mag, a unnamed player said you can take a million bucks and by the time you get taxed, agents get their share, you pay bills etc... that you can almost be left with just thousands or nothing at all.

like i said some of these guys make under 500k, and they still have to pay taxes and agents ect.... and then you add on top they could have new cars,a house and 3 kids.

how would your life be effected if someone took away your pay for 1 year? do you have millions saved like Peyton Manning, or do you have 50k like Pacman Jones?

the owners were always going to win..if the players would quit blowing money on their cars..houses..crew..maybe they could afford health care

keep the salary cap..set a rookie wage scale..split the revenue and call it a day

I'll take any of their paychecks any day!
I do know sometimes you have to take it up the rear in order to keep your job to ensure a steady paycheck. It is called a job!

The players dont want it feel like a job.... they think it should be all fun and games and get what ever they want. They have to learn they work for the owners the boss should always get the last say. If they dont want a boss they should start their own team...lets see how long they treat players like they want to be treated....you cant run a business if your employees tell you what to do.

No, but you can run a business and run it well if you respect your employees as worthy participants in the business. Too many don't understand that employees, on the whole, work hard for bosses who treat them respectfully and value their input. Way too many companies treat workers as objects, with little respect for the work they do. I feel that too many owners have little respect for the players and treat them as objects that do nothing more than make billions of dollars for them, and that perhaps this is why there is ill feeling between the two groups. jmo

I dont see where the players are being treated badly, the NFl has offered them a deal already that gave them health insurance for life and a 16 game season through 2012.

NFL players are like any other employee, they want to work less for more. thats the bottom line. the players want more more more, but dont want to play more.

There is a huge difference between respecting employees and allowing them control aspects of your business. At the end of the day the owners are accountable for the success of the business, not the employees. Every business will incorporate changes that employees may not like to improve aspects of the business. That is life. Hopefully the players will stop taking the awesome life they have been given for granted and just go out and play some football. They are getting payed to play football for crying out loud. When you start doing it just for money, your heart is not going to be in it.
