Being this detached from reality must be nice.

First, based on VY psychological history and failings, I wouldn't be shocked at all to learn that he reads my posts. However, I'd be willing to bet that none of the players on the list contained on this link give one shred of credence to anything posted on forums like this one. Notice VY's absence from said list. Like I was trying to say... Reading fan opinions is contradictory to the professional nature. Go to a Titans game and interact with the players that choose to interact with fans. That would be roughly an hour after the game near the players parking lot, adjacent to the bus tunnel. This would be near the north EZ, on the river side. Ask them yourself if they bother with reading fan opinions, or whether they pay any attention... I have and I have never had a player express any interest in fan sites.

And I have news for you CJ. Your opinion doesn't matter to players and neither does mine. The only thing that matters to anyone is money. Haven't you ever seen what a typical player says on ESPN when interviewed about what fans say? They act completely aloof, like it doesn't matter... like they could care less. Even VY has tried to sell that line. It's just too bad that his actions didn't support his words or else there might not have been the instability at the quarterback position these past few years.

Also, I NEVER said our opinions are influencing media, per say. I said in so many words that columnists write to their audience. Also, I will concede that there is a fan opinion element, albeit a small one, in the ownership aspect of the business. The difference is that owners are reliant on fans for revenues. The product is catered to fans. The more fans there are the less opinions mean though. So take it with a grain of salt.

There is an exception to what I'm saying in regards to fan opinion... Some players may attempt to massage their fan base in order to help get them an accolade, i.e. a pro bowl bid. Even then, most of that stuff, at least in the NFL, is determined by peer vote rather than fan vote. In baseball, I believe All-Star is pure fan vote now... and that's fine.. but baseball players have to be extra thick skinned because they have WAYYYYYYY more interaction with fans during games than NFL guys. Still, boos at home hurt and boos on the road are music to the ears... Taking in opinion when you are on the field versus sitting down with a computer on your own time are two different things. One is elective and the other comes with the territory.

And Climer, if you are reading this.... I'd love to read a column on it! :thumb:

    CJ vs VY critics...

Based on one of the trending arguments, I think there's a big misunderstanding, which is partially my fault since I've emphasized numerous times Fisher played a big role in VY's demise.

Ok, just to clear up any misunderstandings in the past, present and future, when I say Fisher played a role in VY's demise, that's NOT me saying Fisher wanted VY to fail and was intentionally trying to screw him over (why the hell would Fisher have wanted VY to fail, they both have a common goal and needed each other to succeed). What I meant by Fisher played a role... is Fisher never trusted VY as his franchise QB, thus pulled him any chance he could. Difference.

Obviously VY is no Pacman, but VY was the QB.

As Tony D'Amato said... Quarterback, the top spot, the guy who takes the fall, the guy everyone's looking at first, the leader of the team.

    Standards will be different.

    1) Whether or not they care what we post is irrelevant. The discussion was over whether or not they read the fan forums. To think that NONE of them do is a little naive. They've got internet access just like the rest of us.

    2) Reading the message boards could simply be a thing of entertainment to some players. And to say that fans opinions doesn't matter to players is bogus. You can't claim that Vince lost it because fans booed him if your gonna make that argument. Players are SUPPOSED to say that fan's opinions don't matter. And yes, collectively, fans opinions of players does matter. If a player gets booed everytime the step on the field its going to affect them. If a player gets cheered everytime they step on the field that affects them. To some, who are clutch either way, it might not, but to most it has some bearing on their play even if small.

    3) Majority view influences everything. That majority can change or alter through discussion. I think we agree on this point.

    4) Your saying fan opinion does matter. What's the easiest way to get fan opinion?

So basically your saying fan opinion does matter but players never seek to read what fans think about them.

    4. VY contradicted himself numerous times concerning the incident. After reports that he threw his pads in the stands, he made a tweet denying it and said he had his pads with him, even though someone recovered his pads (security guard, I think?), then he deleted his tweet and later said he didn't throw his pads but was giving it to that little girl.

    5. VY himself admitted to it later on and said it was wrong of him. Maybe Griffin didn't chase after him or maybe he was just trying to stick up for his friend.

    6. See number 4.

    7. Exactly, VY is a grown man and responding the way he did against Washington wasn't the way to respond. Scaife and Britt supporting VY is irrelevant when it comes how VY conducted himself.

    8. Dethroning VY in a postgame conference was unprofessional by Fish, but everyone, including reporters, was there for the locker room tirade. Sure, Fish could have done some damage control, but he just got cussed out and VY was no longer his QB, there was no reason for Fish to care anymore at that point.
