I wasn't ducking the question, I wanted you to answer first so I can quickly refute it without typing a bunch of crap first you weren't really going to read anyway, takes a lot less effort and typing this way. Watch:

What is the most important stat to me? Being on the field.

And way to name only the stats that you can use with a small sample size. Lol I see what you did there.

So we agree he can be elite, but he's not actually elite? Because I don't see how someone is elite when they're not as good as the ones that are elite.

Make up my mind on the issue? I wasn't aware I was ever in the "VY is the greatest QB ever" fan club.

And CJ, it's nothing personal against you.

I'm a big VY fan and will be rooting for him next year. But he's just not as good as you make him out to be.

    Ok here's my take...

    1) touche

    2) That's not how I came up with those stats. I think passing yardage is irrelevant. You can throw for 400 yds but if you have 4 picks, that stat is irrelevant. TD/INT ratio tells how much your scoring as opposed to how much your throwing INT's. Important stat to me. YPA shows if your throwing downfield or just quick little dumpoffs. Passer rating takes into account all those factors. W/L should've prob not been included because there's so many other factors, but I was going for a QB who wins. PPG is another stat reliant on other factors than the QB, but it means that the QB is effectively running the offense even if its just handing the ball off and making adjustments.

It had nothing to do with sample size. That never crossed my mind. I just reasoned out which stats showed that a QB was having success no matter the situation. W/L should be excluded.

    3) His stats were elite last year. That's what I was saying. He was top of the league in the most important categories. Which is why his DVOA was so high last year (5th).

    4) Nobody is saying Vince is the best QB. However, we had the #1 scoring offense with him last year. A more correct way to discount my entire argument would be to see how Kerry did after taking over our offense and/or explaining how Vince was a product of our system.

Been a long day at work and the other threads have finally started to pick up. Cheers, tomorrow's Friday!

You continuously saying his stats were elite last year does not make it true.
    They weren't.

The only one that could be considered elite was his passing rating. And considering he was facing 8 or 9 man fronts on a very consistent basis that stat is not really that impressive, especially when you consider he threw it less than 20 times per game.

Winning is important, however a QB alone does not determine this. It is a team game.

Keeping drives alive by converting third downs is important. He was pretty hit or miss in that regard.

YPA is not that important. All it does is give you an idea of what kind of passer a QB is. The lower the YPA the more likely the QB is to dink and dunk down the field.

Passing yards themselves aren't particularly important, scoring is. But you give VY way too much credit for our scoring. I've already broken it down for you, but you just ignore everything that proves you wrong.

He was/is a typical feast or famine type. He's more likely to throw a 50 yard TD on occasion or throw and INT(nevermind he had a ridiculous amount of them dropped over the past 2 years) than to drive the team down the field.

Our defense stays on the field more often when you can't control the clock.

Sure he made strides in 09 and 10 in regards to turning the ball over compared to previous years, but he still turned the ball over.

He's fumble prone. Doesn't use his mobility well. Is lazy, and lacks a work ethic. Blames others for his failures instead of himself, and is the exact opposite of a leader.

He is in no sense of the word, elite.

I wish we would try and trade him, but I doubt it happens. Once he released, he'll get picked up quickly. He's the BEST FA QB, besides Vick and Manning who will get resigned by their own team. Unless Palmer gets cut also.

    Foot in mouth.

So now your argument is reduced to turnovers.

I wonder if a half a season QB has ever been this beloved.

I'm simply offering a rebuttal. Why do the goal post always move?

His stats were really good last year. His play was really good last year. Our offense was really good last year (when he played). VY couldn't stay healthy. VY didn't handle the Redskins game the right way.

Can we all agree on that?

I'd respect that more if you had said this instead...

His stats were really good for half a season last year. His play was really good for half a season. Our offense was really good for half a season (when he played).
