I really strongly agree with that. That's why I regard him in my mind as a never was.

I would be interested to see what would have happened if the Titans had gracefully let McNair AND Fisher go after the 2005 season. I think letting McNair go signified the end of the era and there was a graceful way to go a new direction.

The front office/organization should have known drafting Young that he would need to be coddled and around "VY" people. It's obvious now we shouldn't have drafted him, but VY does show amazing glimpses, and I wonder what he would have been like on a "VY-first" team.

VY's weakness early was passing. We certainly didn't do him any favors with the receivers. But we did supply average to great quality in other areas of the team.

If there is one thing to be learned from this 321 page thread, it's that nothing over the last five years was Vince Young's fault. It was the coaches, the receivers and the media.

That everyone else besides him should "service" VY like he does.

He can't win an argument to save his life. He hasn't proven anything, but acts like he has done something.

Apparently looking at the situation objectively is "being emotional" to this retard.

Vince favored Gage and Washington even with Britt on the field (if he wasn't dumping off to Scaife). VY would have been an entitled injury machine no matter who was HC. God forbid VY ended up with Coughlin, Shanahan or one of these Vince Lombardi/Forrest Gregg types. Fisher was always considered a player's coach.

If your referring to me I've mentioned several of Vince's faults. I don't think there's a single poster on here who's supported VY who also hasn't mentioned some of his faults.

All I've heard as of late is emotional rants.

And Vince is supposed to be the emotional one? Please quit with the personal attacks. If you want to debate, then debate. Just because you claim something doesn't make it true.

We absolutely needed a QB that year though. Obviously Leinart (Fisher's guy) hasn't cut it in the NFL so far, so let's say we took the next best option in Cutler... There's no freaking way Cutler would have put up numbers in Tenn even remotely close to the ones he did with Denver, and Cutler isn't leading a team anywhere soon.

Well, hindsight 20/20, you know, that concept where you can look back on a decision and judge with clarity whether it was the best decision or not... The Titans could have easily traded for a franchised Drew Brees and avoided Pacman Jones and Vince Young both (trade would mandate two future 1st rounders). I think the money situation gets a little dicey because McNair would have still been under contract and there was something unusual about the way the contract was structured, but cutting McNair then might have set the strange for real growth. Either way the Titans likely wouldn't win more than a handful of games, but with Drew Brees we have zero issues at quarterback going forward. It's all too easy to play revisionist history though. I also think that such a trade would be wildly unpopular among fans posting here and had it gone down that way I doubt anyone would realize the bullet we dodged.

I'd really like the name calling to cease. There's no rule that says we have to agree but name calling really is not a road we need to go down. If we wanted to do that we could go to a Jets or Eagles forum. There's no reason that everyone can't get along. I think we are all guilty of being a little disrespectful at times but we need to keep in mind that we have a sense of community to foster.
