He doesn't have a great deep ball. If he can't connect on it teams could cheat their safeties up and still have support against the run.

I think we can have better success by a more balanced attack and better scheming. In addition, fans often forget we had the #1 offense in the league last year with VY as our QB. We've got the weapons on offense, just need better playcalling and for our starting QB to stay healthy.

As far as injuries (many fans faulted VY), Hasselbeck hasn't been healthy the past 2 years. Not saying its gonna be an issue here, just stating the reality.

Chris Palmer comes form the Erhardt-Perkins coaching tree.
But, Mike Hiemdinger was from the WCO coaching tree.
And, Chris Palmer said that he was keeping 50% of the offense intact.
He said its easier for his staff (4-5 guys) to learn the Titans terminology then to ask 53+ to learn his terminology.

Lets not miss the big picture reason for signing Hasselbeck.

The penultimate goal of every franchise should be the development of their franchise QB.
Locker's development gives the organization the best chance to win going forward.

Hasselbeck's greatest benefit for the Titans will likely be his guidance/development of Locker; more then Matt's own on the field play.

Good point. And he def was the best option for that role according to sources.

My comments about us having weapons was to say that even with VY (a QB still working out some kinks) we were able to put up points. We've got a very explosive offense right now. Cook and the development of some of our younger WR's just makes us that more dangerous. I don't think it will take much from the QB position to score points. Just ball security, reading defenses, and occasionally making a play.

    Hasselbeck can fill that role.

Check out that highlight video on the last page. Hasselbeck isn't going to torch defenses, but if our receivers can beat one on one coverage down the field, Hasselbeck can get the ball to them.

So then what is the final goal?

Sorry, I can never resist this one.

I think Britt and Cook will go up and get anything. If Hasselbeck's deep ball is mediocre he picked a good team to go too.

While we're on the topic, I wonder if Hawk will get more burn since the short and quick game will be used more. His YAC capabilities are near the top on the team IMO. Mariani also is one who could benefit greatly from the short game.

I'm excited about the season. Can't believe its only a few weeks away.

    Hi Titans fans!

I just want to say that the Titans have become my 2nd favorite team :)

Matt is a great leader and I think he'll be a great mentor to Jake (after all, he himself was mentored by one of the best). While you're waiting for Jake to develop, just give Matt a strong O-line and he'll do you proud.

Oh yeah, and he's a really good guy too.

Go Titans! (luckily, they don't play the Hawks this season ;))
