but we have 4 solid young lb that we can chose from and 1 has shown some promise and 2 rookies with tremendous upside...i just think it would better long term along with bringing back tully

unless anyone has heard of maybe playing ayers as a d-end in some spots i dont know if that was rumored but do you think it could work or is he to small for our new 4-3 scheme

No way to cutting Witherspoon. He's the only veteran LB on the roster (unless Tully is brought back which seems unlikely).

LB is already a serious need (2nd on my personal list behind DT) and we don't need to make things worse by cutting our most experienced LB who is only set to make 2.5mil next year somebody said?

i feel like we will be mixing it up this year running some 3-4 here and there, gray seemed to want to use Ayers both as a DE and an LB. I wouldnt bring back tulloch though, just too much of a liability in coverage, and like you said we have 4 young LBs who could battle to take his place

Give CJ his money and bring in Nick Barnett now! I would work plaxico burress out and cut gage. Would like to see us look at ray edwards.

No. We have 4 unproven young LBs.

McRath hasn't been the same since getting caught using PEDs.
Ayers is a 2nd round pick, that fell due to horrible mechanics.
    McCarthy can't stay healthy.
    Curran has 7 career tackles.

Yes, they have potential. But you don't cut a starting proven vet LB to save $2.5 mil that you don't desperately need. Even if it's to get younger guys playing time. LBs rotate out a ton, especially in our new scheme. They should all get playing time, and i'm sure they will.

Bringing in Kevin Burnett at LB would make me happy, other than that stay with the group we have, and focus on the d-line, a strong one makes everyone else look better

Definetly can not get rid of Witherspoon. For a 2.5 cap hit he is well worth being a part of this team. Our young LB's have potential but are unproven they need someone to mentor them. Besides he was probably are most consistent LB last season.

We are in dire need of a MLB & DT. That's 1-2 on my personal free agent list.

LB: Rocky McIntosh or Kevin Burnett
DT: Cullen Jenkins or Brandon Mebane

Hopefully we can land 2 of the 4.. a man can dream, right? :D
