Morgan isn't a pass rusher, Uneyiora had 11.5 Sacks last year and our only decent edge guy Babin just walked away.

Really you would rather have Verner/Mcourty starting instead of a guy like Asante?

The Fisher era is over, this is a new team, who else would like to see us have a crushing defense again?

Also on what planet is Finnegan a #1 corner. He's a number 2 at best and should be competing with Vernor/Mcourty to keep THAT job.

    Can't afford both.

I'd take Asante, but he's due $9.35 million.

Good job, and when we win 4 to 6 games, (have 2 more 10th year players) and have no 1st or 2nd round picks, then what?

I agree with you on the CB situation, but we can't afford them.

Dude, this trade works wonders in Madden. Wonders in Madden mean nothing in real life.

We have Matthew Hasselback as a temporary quarterback right now. His job is to help us win some ball games, teach Jake Locker how to be an NFL quarterback, and GTFO in 2013.

That's not the kind of team that should stockpile Osi, Asante, or any other "name" to make the fans feel warm and tingly inside. Leave that crap to teams like New England.

This is a truly awful thread. No to both. I'm not saying they're bad players but one wants too much money (to the point where we can't afford him even if we wanted him) and the other is at a position we're not in dire need of help at.

Thinking we're not in rebuild mode is also crazy talk. We lost our starting QB and drafted a QB with the 8th overall pick. We have a good RB, an above average OL and everything else is below average. Britt is not top 5 and even if he were, its fairly easy to double team a good receiver. We don't have a proven #2. Nate is a #3 at best and the other guys haven't done anything (note that I like DWill and Mariani and have high hopes).

Spending 1st and 2nd round picks on players is something a team does if they're ready to make a push. See: Eagles, Jets, Patriots, etc. A 1st round pick, especially that of a team that's likely to finish below .500 is worth so much more than getting Osi or Samuel.

Edit: I would love for us to finish 10-6 and make the wildcard, and I think its possible. All the stars would have to align and I really wouldn't put any money on that happening.

Wow I'm impressed with pessimism on this board by some of our "fans". Did I say impressed or depressed?

Seriously guys do you really think this team is that bad? I say theres no way we win less than 8 games with the team we have now and could be a playoff contender with a few more key pieces.

I love my team therefore I always exprect great things from them.

We just re-signed Jacob Ford, why would we want to use up trade bait on a DE??
