I also don't get this "CJ is a top 5 back.." No, he's #1 lol. There is no back better in the league. Not one.

The numbers tell me all I need to know.

    Just my opinion.

    Cortland/CJ for a 1st and 3rd in 2012, and a 1st and 4th in 2013.

    Any takers?

I've harped on this for a long time as well. And I do think our reputation is about as low as it can get regarding our treatment of players.

However, now that the new rookie deal is in place regarding draft picks... makes more and more sense to get rid of Finnegan and CJ and get some future picks.
Then we'll own them at those new cheap rookie contracts and they'll be stuck. Of course we'll still have to overpay any free agents we want to come here, unless they are buster free agents we plan to turnaround (which has worked for us, some).

I know you and many others defend the McNair situation and all the other examples...

But I think at this point perception is reality for the players in the NFL. We have the reputation that we don't take care of our own.

Although in this instance I certainly agree we shouldn't pay Finnegan and he can hit the road. It's just too bad that when you add this to the list of Godfrey, McNair, etc it just continually makes us look bad.

CF spent the last 2 years getting burnt and causing too many big penalties after showing Pro Bowl performances 2-3years ago. In recent season he has shown little to deserve top CB type money. Notice what the FO has been doing at the position. I think they have been planning to move on for some time now. CF you want top dollar, prove to us you are worth it!

I don't defend the McNair thing. But I'm not naive to think we know the entire story and that Cook wasn't a player in how it went down.

I'm also not going to say the organization has handled things the best way it could be handled. But I find it extremely overblown and it's usually by guys like Bulluck who said the team wasn't contacting him, negotiating, etc. Well, maybe the Titans didn't want to tell Bulluck he was done and unwanted. It took a bad season at the Giants for him to see the light.

Same holds true for Eddie George. Same for a bunch of other players who thought the Titans should be paying them big money who never did much in their careers after leaving the team.

Fact is, we only know what is reported to the media. And when these stories come out, it's by a complaining player who feels he's not getting treated fairly. Of course it's going to end up making the Titans look bad. It's what it's designed to do.

This is VERY true. Players often complain about the way we cut ties with them, but truthfully, we make pretty excellent decisions when it comes to who to resign and who not to.

I hated the way the Mcnair thing went down, but let's be honest, it was time. Same goes for getting rid of George, Kearse, Haynesworth, Bulluck, Vanden Bosch, etc.

It was not at all time for McNair to go. Yes his contract was big and he didn't want to take a pay cut. Yes he was dealing with injuries, but he would have kept VY down to earth.
