The Official Chris Johnson Holdout Thread

hey guys... brand new around here. Been lurking til my account was activated. Chris Johnson deserves the money. He should be one of the highest if not THE highest paid RBs in the NFL. The Titans need to put aside their egos and just get the guy the deal even though he's not in training camp. I doubt CJ is going to be fat and out of shape. He will just need to get some drills and preseason games and he'll be ready by week one. Get CJ that paper!

 

I can see that - although that is the clear risk you run by not getting this done earlier. I'd love the know the numbers each are throwing out because I still think you could use him, MJD and AP as benchmarks. If CJ is asking $30M guaranteed, and D Williams got $21M guaranteed, the other top RBs have about $17M guaranteed... I think the Titans could/should be able to get a deal done for around $40+M over 5-6 years with maybe $25M guaranteed. CJ would probably take that, and I think the Titans could afford it.

If they had offered 5-years $35M with $17M guaranteed the first time he asked for a new contract we could have avoided all of this. You don't make a guy the center of your offense and not lock him up when you have the chance.

 

again, 3 yrs/36 mil, 30 mil signing bonus is what i'd do.

It says a lot for a former RB to speak up like that about one of our current players.

 

He's a broadcaster for the Titans of course he was going to be asked that question.

You hit it on the head. CJ could have been wrapped up last year even before the cap was raised. Should have been wrapped up right at the beginning of FA.

 

As far as a contract, whatever gets him in camp ..... I don't really care

 

Here's something funny... Our LS (Amato) and Kicker (Bironas) make more than Kenny Britt and CJ combined... lol
