Babin only had a chance to have a season similar to what he did last year if he went to ONE place... and he went there. Washburn made him into a Pro Bowler, and if he would have re-signed here, he wouldn't have repeated.

That said, Washburn is now an Eagle. I'm focusing on the Titans. He did ok for us in the first half of the season last year, but, just like the rest of the team, fell apart after the 5-2 start. Meh.

Jim Washburn is a good coach with a great scheme that at this point has really become dated. The Eagle's d-line shows exactly what ours did last year, they are fast and undersized so they get to the quarterback quickly. The downside is they are constantly against men bigger than them, therefore the line deteriorates with injuries before the season can end. It's why the D has always dropped off end of year for us (even in the 13-3 season) and it's why we have no playoff continuity. Bring on the beef IMO. He can take his dated but successful system elsewhere. Eagles are going to disappint this year.

You credit the scheme to the defensive coordinator. Washburn didn't have carte blanche to do whatever he wanted with the defensive linemen.

We had a lot of players here who didn't play at a high level or realize their potential. Odom and Starks for example. AH only played great when it was contract time.

Babin was at a career crossroads and motivated and came to the right place last year.

Washburn is a good coach but he is not a miracle worker.

One test case to look at for Washburn this year would have been Broaderick Bunkley a talented 1st rd pick who hasn't realized those expectations but the Eagles got rid of him. Now Mike Patterson might need brain surgery. I don't expect a great year from the Eagles D-line just an average year.

Washburn left here before the other coaches- it was his choice. He was sore he didn't get the HC and Munchak did. He couldn't stand to coach under his former colleague. Just the way it is. He should do well at Philly.

Actually Washburn left before Fisher was let go. I wonder if Munchak would've kept him as part of the staff if he'd have still been here at the time?

edit: sorry Riverman - I posted this before I saw your post already pointing out the same thing....
