Based on one half of preseason football, I AM impressed with this scrub staff. Out with the old in with the new.
Things feel fresh all the way around.... finally!

Now I'm starting to wonder if our players are actually better than they have shown the past few years, and will be playing with a new, fresh inspiration this year. It certainly looked like everyone had a little more pep in their step tonight.

My gut is that alot of them know that their jobs are not necessarily secure, and actually are playing to impress the new head honcho. I really hope that it continues.

I've said this in posts before but when you've been in such a bad situation the past couple of seasons and you finally get rid of those players and coaches causing the problems most players respond in a positive way. This is the feeling I get with this team, it's like a clean slate.

Remember when the lions went undefeated in preseason (4-0) and went 0-16 in the regular season?I take preseason with a grain of salt. These guys arent gonna show their hand before the season starts. These offensive and defensive schemes are as about as vanilla as they come. If you watched the Vikings production of the game... the announcers were ringin' Joe Webb for consistently missing wide open receivers... Instead of finding the open man.. he'd just take off running up the middle or towards the sideline.

Preseason is for teams to showcase to the public the progress they've made so far in training camp. Pre Week 1 is the first chance to get in the public eye, deal with a (semi) full stadium of fans, deal with TV life, and deal with real-game scenarios against guys in other-colored uniforms.

All that considered, do I think we're ready for the Jaguars in Week 1? Not necessarily. But do I think we're in a good place as a team to be in Week 1 of the preseason? Absolutely.

If my comment had anything to do with what you're on about I might agree.
At the "halfway point of the first preseason game" you could indeed tell this team different than seasons past. Dogs and cats could sense that.
No Fisher, No Dinger, No Collins, No VY, etc. Bigger bodies on DL.
    Lotsa new faces with headsets.
Even suiting up in blues during the summer is different..
