All I can say is lol @ the Vikings if they give a guy that is such a clear liability on 3rd down that the team won't even put him on the field more money than C.J. gets. Not to mention Peterson is a power back and might have 2 years left as great ball carrier. (which is the only aspect of playing the position he's actually good at)

People can we please stop acting like C.J. is going to sit down and discuss his contract if he does show up? His agent will be handling 100% of the negotiations. The vast majority of them being over the phone regardless of where C.J. is.

What I don't get is why CJ just doesn't show up for a day, and call the Titan's bluff?

Is it really that hard to hop on a hour and a half flight from Orlando - sign some autographs for kids, walk around in sweats and smile for the camera. Really, what harm is that going to do?

If he doesn't like the way things are going - he can always hop on one of the 2 dozen daily flights back to Florida.

Right now, the Titans are winning this battle because they've come out asking the guy to just show up at his place of work - not an unreasonable request.

Most fans would agree that CJ needs and deserves a new deal - if he shows up and the Titans still don't do anything or lowball him - then I think the fans would mutiny.

    "those close to Johnson say..."

"To date, the Titans have not made any offers to Johnson."

But Johnson told The Tennessean he was surprised to hear that Reinfeldt said that he would make him the highest-paid running back ever. Johnson said neither he nor his agent has received any offer from the Titans.

"Maybe they talked, but I guarantee we never received any offer," Johnson told The Tennessean

Here are a few salient points of an otherwise mis-leading headline.

Exactly. Put the pressure on the front office. Reinfeldt told the world he'll be the highest paid player ever at his position. Make them do it.

If things don't go the way the Titans said they would, THEN we can call them cheap, swindlers, two-timers and liars.

I proposed this same scenario many posts back....and I agree...I would love to see him and his agent say "we are here...let's get busy" and see how quickly they work to get something in front of them. I think we would find out how sincere the FO is at that point. I still believe they would get it done quickly provided CJ or his agent don't get stupid and expect Manning/Brady money...

CJ isn't getting QB type money from anybody. it's not a Titans thing. It's an NFL thing. RBs aren't as valuable as they once were. Do you think the Steelers or Pats are going to pony up that for CJ, hell no. I think CJ and/or his agent needs to come back down to earth a bit.

OK- so what's the benefit of the front office to not send him an offer right now?

Because from CJ's perspective he loses ANY any ALL leverage when he shows up to "finalize negotiations". He did it last year and he didn't get the contract he was after.

The front office made a mistake to draw a line in the sand. It's obvious they want everyone to know that they don't deal with holdouts. I get it. Good policy to follow. But the front office also put themselves in this situation by not presenting a contract at the start of camp.

Now it's a pissing contest and honestly, the front office started it. The front office could finish it by stating that the organization is pleased to offer a contract that offers compensatio commensurate with CJ's performance during his tenure. That statement/position alone provides enough distinction and justification to maintain their "no holdout negotiation" policy for other players.

No one is winning the Titans are shooting them selfs in the foot this will scared of any GOOD free agent or rookie in the future.

CJ will not get pay what he wants in my opinion and he knows it.

And us the fan's are the real losers we get nothing.

I bet you the Titans do this same sh$$it with P.Manning Aaron Rogers or Tom brady the position does not matter.

    There isn't one.

Obviously their policy is they don't deal with holdouts. That's up to them. If Chris Johnson wants to sit out until they ignore their own policy, that's his call.

Mike Reinfeldt has shown he's a shrewd negotiator, so I don't expect him to give in.

Let CJ miss a game check or two, and let's see if his stance changes.

The front office is doing him a favor not fining him $30,000 a day. I know I wouldn't be that nice.
