Well, I do think it would be easy to take a weapon into the stadium. However I'm against stricter security entering the game simply because they won't hire enough people to open all the freaking gates!

If they would at least do that, then I'd be ok with a little stricter searches going in. Or even passing through a metal detector.

I agree the texting thing to get people tossed is ridiculous.

Really, why not? Think about it, if you're a Raider or 49ers fan, you wouldn't have to endure another heart breaking season. If I was a bay-area football fan, I would absolutely pay to get my head blown off

It's not ridiculous when you use it the right way... like when I did it to get an obnoxious lard-@ss Steelers fan thrown out of Heinz Field.

Yeah but Riverman is saying that Titan's fans are getting thrown out of the game with no chance to defend themself just because someone texted on them.

I would be irate if that happened to me.

I went to a San Diego Padres game last year and Albert Pujols hit a home run in our section. The ball bounced and stuck in a fence that sectioned off the handicapped area and a guy who wasn't handicapped reached in and grabbed the ball.

The crowd got vicious! They harassed this guy for stealing the ball from handicapped people. Dude still didn't give the ball back so security moved him to another section. I was checking out some 49ers-Raiders fights on youtube and it's crazy to see how these people get so worked up.

I've gotten very mad and upset before/during/after our games but never to the point where I would take it to that next level.

I don't mind anybody getting thrown out. The problem is that unless it is a progressive discipline, there is an unnecessary risk of fans being improperly ejected.

It should go something like this. Security receives text. Security observes behavior occuring BEFORE approaching the reported fan. Security WARNS fan that if (non-violent) behavior persists they will be ejected. Violence can be tossed immediately. Persistent reporting that has been verified could result in that person losing their PSL's and/or season tix.

The whole key is proper administration and enforcement. And it does require added expense to do it better (more security). So, I really believe when you have stadiums with a higher proportion of jack-holes like Raiders, Eagles, etc, the onus should be those host cities/organizations to keep it a safe and pleasant environment. The league needs to oversee the process so that a reasonable balance can be maintained as well as to enforce monetary damage to host franchises. (loss of home game etc)

btw- I always wear my jersey into visiting stadiums. 99% of the fans that shouted something at me had fun when I shouted back. Key is to smile, keep it fun, acknowledge their team is good and then you have license to cheer when we do something good. Offering to buy a beer is always helpful. That has worked for me in Boston, Pittsburgh, New Orleans where the fans were intense and often drunk.

There should be zero tolerance for violence within the stadium. But some old fashioned ribbing should not result in ejection.

That is what happened on a couple of occasions. I wrote a letter and the end of the 09 season to Don Maclahan and I think it made a difference. The same girls (Colts fans) tried to get the same Titans fan ejected again last season and security DID wait to observe what was going on. The tossed the Colts fans when they heard them using profanity at this guy. So maybe we ARE getting better. I felt bad for the guy because they were taunting him and had gotten him thrown out 09 by texting on him and all he did was make a comment that he couldn't tell the boy colts fans from the girls Colts fans.
