That's the thing, I believe Chris has talked to AP about what sort of deal he's looking for next year when he becomes a free agent; word is he told CJ 14 mil a year with 40 guaranteed.

Take this for what it's worth, which is probably nothing. Dawn Davenport just tweeted this. For those that don't know, she's a sports reporter for a local station here in Nashville....

    "DawnDavenportTN

Just heard Clayton on ESPN is reporting CJ and the titans have a deal??? Didn't hear it myself, just thru the grapevine..."

I've heard that CJ is wanting 13mil a year, and the Titans are willing to give 10mil a year. So if that's the case, then why don't they meet in the middle and settle for 11.5 mil a year? Seems too elementary, so I'm sure it won't happen.

13 a year is not unreasonable at all. And its much lower than what I was expecting him to demand after the Fitzgerald deal.

4 year/42 million ... with bonus incentives up to 13 mil/year. 25 mil guaranteed and signing bonus. Just my 2 cents.

Had the Titans done this deal last year...they could have gotten CJ for much less. I hope he gets every cent he wants! It's just a business when we make cuts...it's just a business when a big name wants his payday. I'm still irritated that he didn't get a sweet deal before last season started!!! And honestly, he should be too.

Because of the uncapped year, there was a rule in place that limited how much of a salary increase the Titans could have given Johnson last year. It made doing a long-term deal very difficult. That's the primary reason why I didn't happen.
