I wouldn't say that really. Not like he got some crazy amount of carries a la Eddie George...

    CJ 358/5.6ypc
    Jamaal Lewis 387/5.3ypc
    Terrell Davis 392/5.1ypc
    Barry Sanders 335/6.1ypc
    Eric Dickerson 379/5.6ypc
    OJ Simpson 332/6.0ypc

The argument can be made if he had more carries he could have broken Dickerson's rushing record. I don't think you can just plug any "other good running" back in and have a shot at breaking records.

Shame CJ can't carry this kind of attitude into the season and these shenanigans he is pulling...per PFT from Adrian P:

“I’m pretty much in a good position right now,” Peterson told 105.3 the Fan in Dallas, via SportsRadioInterviews.com. “I’m kind of in the driver’s seat, so I just decided, hey, it’s my last year of the contract, I’ll stay faithful to it and I’m going to go out and focus on doing what I can do to help this team win a championship. . . . Everything else will work out on its own.”

WTF does that have anything to do with the issue of the quality of CJ as a running back? I understand your point about the importance of W's and football itself being a "team" sport, but your premise is irrelevant in quality issues of CJ.

Less W's means more L's. More L's usually indicates we are playing from behind toward the end of the game which would mean less carries. Are you suggesting less carries earlier in the game would translate into more W's? Or are you suggesting that what CJ did was a product of the team around him and ANY reasonably good RB could have done the same thing?

You fail to recognize the significance of an "all time NFL" record. Other RB's on other teams during past and recent periods have had similar situations yet only 5 others were able to produce the rushing record and no other individual was able to record the total yards from scrimmage. That is effin AMAZING. Yet you persist in this inane reply regarding W's that bears no reflection of an individual's performance. The W's reflect TEAM performance.

He's getting paid $10.7 this year. I sure hope he's enough of a team player to be content with that.

This is a pretty dumb statement when you actually look at the stats from that year. And it's not just you, there are plenty of people that have said the same thing in this thread. But did any of you even bother looking at the numbers, or are you just saying what ever comes to your head?

The fact is CJ DOES win the Titans games. I'm not saying that he does it all by himself, but the numbers don't lie.

The Titans started the season out 0-6, and CJ had an average of 15.8 attempts per game

The Titans finished the season 8-2, and CJ had an average of 26.3 attempts per game. Over 10 more attempts/game.

In games the Titans won that year, CJ rushed an average of 26.8 times/ game, and in games we lost he rushed an average of 17.8 times per game.

In games the Titans lost, CJ averaged 106.3 yds/game, in games the Titans won CJ averaged 144.3 yds/game

Sounds to me like CJ can win us some games.

The point is, people like to point out the Titans record that year as an indication that record meant nothing and didn't help us win games, but CJ was having a good not but not great year at the beginning of the season. It was the 2nd half of the year that CJ started putting up record breaking numbers every game, and we won almost all of those games.
