We could spend it on a safety... a position that's harder to fill and much more needed on this squad.

Or a DB since we're thin there and same as above.

Or OL, DL... positions that are far more important.

word. Everybody remembers the 1 or 2 big plays he had as a receiver, and forget about the 2/3 of the time when he drops it or just doesn't get open.

In Madden he's a great receiver because he's fast. That has to count for something, right?

Thats all well and good but who is out there to fill those positions? That you feel warrants that kind of money?

easy answer is that you allocate the monies evenly and keep a higher number of players instead of one high priced player. Take advantage of keeping the team together as opposed to 1 playmaker and surrounding him with a bunch of scrubs. See the New England Patriots.

My point is if you have to spend it and the other players are taken care of, and the salary cap is expected to double over the next 10 years why not? Maybe Im being simplistic but that is the case spend the money. New England has one high priced player, Tom Brady. Other than CJ we wont.

I think this is his value...he makes the defense scheme for him and possibly accounts for 2-3 more defenders in that scheme than without him. If that does nothing, it should make it easier for our middle of the pack WRs to get open lanes in their routes...or make it easier for the OC to come up with plays to get them open because of the defense having to account for CJ on every play. That is my theory anyway.

Fact is has not been in the top of the league in TDs in any season...other than the year he hit 2000yds I think he was maybe 3rd.

Arian Foster has torn it up but hasn't exactly gotten the Texans into the playoffs...

So let me get this straight, Colin Cowherd took one year - last year - to "prove" that a great running back isn't necessary?

There are so many factors in football. Putting these in order of importance is often difficult:

    For example,
I think we can all agree that a great defense is pretty important to team success. However, you really can't have a great defense if you don't control or at least win time of possession on offense and likewise you can't control time of possession without a great running game and you can't have a great running game without a great offensive line, so on and so forth.

Everything affects everything. But individual players can turn a good running game to a great one. As far as individual players are concerned, the qb is obviously the most important player because he affects the game so much.

WWTPD (what would the Patriots do)? Probably trade his #$% and use that money to upgrade multiple other positions
