Nothing being reported right now matters much. What Jason Cole is reporting is just the beginning, C.J. and Joel Segal will go back and forth with Reinfeldt 2-3 times with the figures. Segal just got Mike Vick PAID! He'll do the same for C.J..

Yet you are calling NFL players greedy......

Futhermore, if you aren't like these players why not give away your inheritence to charity? You didn't EARN it, your grandmother did. ( In no way, shape, or form am I making fun of your grandmother or her passing.)

I wonder how difficult it is playing an NFL season knowing that one major injury could destroy any chance of getting paid. Wonder if it was in the back of CJ's mind......

Also, you are bashing CJ for buying a fancy car, yet you are spending a bunch of money to go watch a game. :?:

So is it fair to say that the whole CJ wants playmaker money was an attempt to smear his name?

I hate to harp on this, but yall are crawfishing so fast, yall are going to get neck whiplash.

It is easy to say it's greed because most folks can't identify with the large amount of money that is being discussed. But IMO, it is not greed as it pertains to market value. It is all a perspective thing- from both sides. I just think it is ridiculous for some to adamantly bash CJ when:

    1) Contract are re-done/extended frequently in the NFL when a player outperforms his compensation
    2) His requests are NOT unreasonable relative to his performance (all time NFL record, one of 6 in another record)
    3) The market (other teams) ARE paying players higher sums of guaranteed money and total compensation who have not achieved milestones that CJ has
    4) The new CBA will cause vet salaries to continue to rise significantly now that cap room has been shifted from unproven rookies to experienced vets
    5) The front office knowingly made a verbal agreement with CJ to re-do his contract last year if he agreed to come in for a modest increase. (which as we now know the 30% rule COULD have easily been circumvented AND completely kept CJ's compensation out of the cap situation making the team have even MORE cap space available.)
    6) The holdout NEVER would have occurred if the front office had made good on their word to get CJ an offer at the START of training camp.

I really think that a lot of the people adamantly opposed to CJ's contract suffer from a "dog in the manger" mentality. (dog chases cows out of the manger even though he can't eat the hay.) I just don't get how some folks give a chit about Bud's profit margin. And people, that is EXACTLY what the hold-up has been. It hasn't been about precedents because it could have been spun to the media that it takes setting an all time NFL record to receive a lucrative extension.

Crawfishing: a backing out of a commitment or situation, especially when it doesn't go your way.

Neck Whiplash: occurs when your neck is jarred by a sudden violent movement forward or backward.

Ya'll: folks that generally agree with management.

Translation: I didn't hear too many of "ya'll" dismissing the reports that CJ wanted playmaker money when that was reported, but a slew of people are now dismissing the new reports of the titans lowball offer under the guise of: "this is just how negotiations work," ie: management starts low and works up, CJ's agent starts high and works down.

Before, the refrain was a whole lot of CJ bashing for not accepting the 10 million that the titans were supposedly offering. Turns out it wasn't even that high, and I suspect this is why the board has a flood of "rationale, this is expected on the titans part?" type of posts.

    Clear enough for ya?

You know my mother was born and raised in Tennessee. Born in 1940 and still going strong and heard the sourthern talk/expressions/accents all my life. Yet none of that made a lick of sense. And I had to learn when she was saying Pen and not Peeing.

That's why I explained it.

I am a displaced oilers fan. I have been following the titans since they moved to tennessee partly because I moved to tennessee the same year.

But I realize that the titans have a whole new fan base. I suppose there are still oilers fans that are following the team, but it is not the same, and it probably never be the same again.

I suspect most of you became oilers/titans fans when they came to tennessee, if that is the case, you all can't understand how disheartening this situation is for long time oilers fans.

This team hasn't done anything for 30 years. They had one good run to the superbowl, but for a me waiting 30 years for the oilers/titans to rekindle the luv ya blue era, all the while seeing how bloodsucking front office has become, just makes me want to consider flipping allegiance.
