Why wasn't Woodson ejected Thursday night?

I thought everyone was refering to him throwing his hand up in the air right before he got pulled away. I did not think it was a big deal until I saw this clip. Gotta respect some of these NFL players, if somebody threw a punch at me in a game I do not think I could have just walked away like that.

But I think he did not get ejected because he was a Packer, playing against another big name team.

You know how when you were a kid in school, there was that one kid that never got in trouble and the teacher absolutely loved? Then one day that kid does something totally out of character, cursing or smacking another kid or making a dirty joke. The teacher sees it and is horrified but her previous impression of the kid was so strong she gives him half the punishment one of the class clowns would have gotten, if any.

I think it was one of those deals. The ref was like WHOA oh wait that's Woodson he's a good guy. We'll just make it a 15 yarder.

It seems to me that whenever that happens and it isn't in open space, getting ejected is kind of rare. It seems to be that every 3rd or 4th game I watch, the announcers are calling for an ejection that doesn't happen. If you are tied up with a guy, you get more of a pass...

Exactly! If that was Cortland, you better believe he would have been ejected

It's not unusual for the Packers to get breaks from the League/Officials.

Can anyone explain to me why they're never flagged for "excessive celebration" when they jump into the crowd (AKA the Lambau Leap) following touchdowns?

There's no place for uppercuts in football, Woodson should absolutely catch some heat for getting away with this. A fine should be just the beginning of it. Being a Packer at home, and smaller than David Thomas helped him I think. If Woodson was smacking around a smaller man, it would have been more obvious and easier to deal with. I've seen DE's get away with literally knocking blockers upside their heads. So to me since punches take place, thats maybe why Woodson didn't get ejected.

It's tradition. The Packers are big to the NFL so thats why. Same for the Steelers. The Rooney's are owners you only hear good about, same for the Packers CEO Mark Murphy. Behind closed doors I'm sure other league owners laugh at what Bud Adams does. Flipping off your opponents on national TV isn't good for the NFL LOL. I think these kind of things get noted and come back around to bite you.

Yea and thats Cortland's fault entirely. If he's jabbing guys in their guts, it wouldn't be the first time he was involved in something like that. Didn't Jason Jones get kicked ot of a game too for this sort of thing?

Our team has a bad boy rep, whether you like it or not. I kind of like that, but refs are fully aware of this very reputation. They know coming in to Titans games that they better be on top of their stuff. If that's not why Cortland would absolutely get kicked out, then why didn't Vince Yong get much help from the refs?

When the refs see a Tennessee Titan get the business from another guy, they're like "bout time they got a taste of their own medicine" and look the other way. Why also did Ray Lewis not get in trouble for clearly twisting Chris Johnson's ankle in the 08 postseason? The refs are told coming into Titan games to look for it. We're screwed from the kickoff.

It's a penalty for all, or most other, teams in football.
