with CJ there is absoutly no telling what you will get. Put in Ringer/Harper/Johnson and you will probably get that 3-4 yards per carry.

I'm going for "71-100". I see CJ at around 80 yards and 1 TD, I think he'll hit one home run and bust a 50 yardish run, then not do much on his other carries.

It should be noted that the center you're blaiming CJ's fall on couldn't get picked up by another team after he was dropped (THEN retired once he couldn't get work) from here.

But... you're right. The system that CJ was a product of had some shifts.

That accompanied with him now being unable to beat a linebacker to the sidelines for whatever reason...

mawae was a top center bro, and the heart and soul of our o line.

The O-line dropoff argument is legit. I won't deny that. It's not the whole story though. O-line doesn't have anything to do with CJ's top speed dropoff, decisiveness, vision, etc. CJ got caught on a lot of runs last season that he would not have been caught on in 08-09. He seems to be missing that last gear nowadays. He just doesn't look like the same runner. I'm not just talking about numbers here.

And Munchak himself said after Sunday's game that CJ had some issues with his vision and decisiveness. These aren't new issues. They were present last year too, as some of us were pointing out throughout the season.

Obviously! The O-Line in 2009 blocked well even against 8-9 man fronts, and since then? Well, not so much.

Isn't it funny that I was the one saying how vital Mawae was to this team while everyone here told me he was washed up... now he's your convenient excuse?

Again to play devil's advocate: If he were such a "top center" in the league... why could he not get a single phone call from any team in the league?... He didn't want to retire, he just had no option.

I agree. CJ has definitely got some owning up to do. I just hate this notion that CJ is the whole problem. Our offensive line has dropped off considerably since Mawae retired.

Deuce can argue that he didn't get signed elsewhere and we kicked him off the team. That is true. He's also in his late 30's. But you simply cannot argue that the dude was clearly the glue holding this seemingly awesome (at the time) oline together.

If we can give CJ good lanes, we all know how deadly he can be. If we can't open holes, if doesn't matter who's back there.

    Fixed that for ya.

I never said he was the top center in the league. He was, however, our only interior lineman worth a damn. He didn't get picked up because he's old. Simple as that. People build offensive lines around centers. Hard to do that with a guy pushing 40.

And he's not a convenient excuse for me. I'm sure Deuce the Prophet was the only man alive who knew how valuable Mawae was when he was here. But I certainly never bashed the guy. He was the captain of this offense, and I thought letting him walk was a pitiful move. Then again, if you asked Mason, Bulluck, McNair, or George, they'd tell you that this team doesn't care too much about their players once they feel they're used up.

The way he ran uninspired last game I say negative yards. I understand when there isn;t a hole you can't do much, but why the hell does he ALWAYS turn his back and try to push for more yards that way That isn't going to work, I never see him fall forward, fight for a few extra yards. If there isn't a hole he seems to give up.

Plus, they'll be down 24-0 in the first quarter and will have to throw and abandon the run.
