Well, in all fairness......Russell was the most recent QB to become a major bust. Plenty of that had to do with off the field issues as well.

Somewhat similiar playing style as well. I would not go too far to say that is a racist comment. Nobody says that when Alex Smith is compared to Ryan Leaf.

Oh, you're right. They have nothing in common at all other than they're black. Silly me.

    1. Athletic.
    2. Huge. 6ft6 and 260 vs 6ft6 and 250.
    3. Cannon arms with sh*t accuracy.
    4. Horrible mechanics.
    5. Both from the SEC.
    6. Both hyped by ESPN and will end up with the same result.
    7. Very similar body types.
    8. Sucked in big games.
    9. Controversial pasts.
    10. Both only had 1 good year of play in the SEC.
    11. Both declared early.
    12. Terrible teams to try to lead.
    13. Easy bust calls.
    14. Neither know how to read defenses- or call plays.

    Want me to keep going?

Better yet- find me a player he compares BETTER with than Russell. Clown.
Amazing how you always put your foot in your mouth when it comes to accusing everyone else of being racist when the truth is clear...

That's your main problem, you confuse opinion with fact.

Here's the thing: I'm not ready to call him the next big thing, the jury is still out and will be for a while yet. My problem is armchair talent scouts like yourself who absolutely refuse to give him credit for anything, much less admit that he even has the chance to be at least a decent QB in the league.

There's a big difference in saying, "I don't think he'll be a good QB." and "He sucks and has absolutely no chance to ever be good."

Thus far, he's done a nice job for a rookie QB considering the Panther's situation. But the people in the, "He sucks and that's that" camp can't even let themselves admit that.

He may in fact turn out to be a bust. Then you and all the others like you can pat yourselves on the back. But if he does turn out to be a good QB, then what? You'll turn around and say, "I told you he wasn't worth a number 1 pick! I was right!" If he turns out to be a superstar though, you're left looking like an idiot.

Who is they? I said none of these things. It was a prayer of a pass. I don't care who throws it. Cam made some really nice throws in the game that are a much better example of his talent. This was a great play by Smith.

The running game does not suck. If anything Cam's ability to stretch the field should open up the running game. Carolina has a killer backfield that just hasn't got going yet. When they do this offense will become truly dangerous.
Until then Cam can keep rolling up passing yards, interceptions and losses.

This guy just denied every completely obvious aspect of Cam Newton that everyone knows or can see...

    Dang... you're good. lol

But your username makes a lot of sense now... dreams. Come back to reality:

His accuracy hasn't been bad at all thus far. - actually it has been. Receivers have just made incredible adjustments. He couldn't even hit wide open Steve Smith in stride on the 1 TD. He had to basically stop- come back- and bucket catch the lob. Many of the passes have been at the feet, behind WRs, etc... they're just making great plays.

And his accuracy sucked at Auburn also. He can't hit a WR in stride to save his life.

    4. Horrible mechanics.

More opinion used as fact. -I guess Vince Young having horrible mechanics was just opinion too.

Newton has seen much more hype from the "experts" who say he isn't ready and may not even have the ability to succeed at the pro level. As for Russell, I don't remember him being hyped as a surefire superstar either.- He's been hyped as the 2nd coming of Jesus just like every other overrated QB that wins the heisman or is in the race the last few years.

    8. Sucked in big games.

Are you basing this off college? If so, maybe you point at the NC game. He didn't put up his normal gawdy numbers there but his team still won and went undefeated. Oregon's vaunted "unstoppable" offense didn't put up their usual numbers in that game either.- Of course I'm basing it off college. What else would I be basing any of this off of?... Though he's off to a great start killing his team by throwing 2 picks to seal the game the past 2 games he's played.

    10. Both only had 1 good year of play in the SEC.

Newton was only a starter in the SEC for one year. Its not like he sucked it up for a year or two previously then had a fluke season. He was dominant. Right. Inexperience is inexperience. Point remains.

    12. Terrible teams to try to lead.

What makes Carolina any worse to lead than any other team aside from the fact that they just aren't very good? I certainly wouldn't put them on the Raiders level. Both are pretty bad.

    13. Easy bust calls.

Again, your opinion based on some unquantifiable talent evaluator scale. It's opinion til it's fact. So wait for it...

    14. Neither know how to read defenses- or call plays.

Says who? He's looked pretty in command of his offense so far and from everything I've seen has the respect from both his teammates and opponents. lol He proved he doesn't know play calls with Gruden.

Cam Newton is one of the best running QBs to come out of college. Russell was not a runner at all.

The comparison only proves that. For a poster to not know or understand that it proves that not only is he clueless but he also thinks that all black QBs are the same.

I'm surprised Duece didn't mention Leftwich as well.

    Cam Newton > Peyton Manning..

    1. Tall

    2. SEC QBs

    3. 1st picks

    4. Hyped by espn

    5. Cam has an a in his first name, Manning in his 2nd name.

    6. Cam has an e in his 2nd name and Manning in his first.

Of course Cam won a heisman, Peyton didn't. Cam won a national title and Peyton didn't.

Cam similar to but better than Peyton..

The delusional logic of Duece Wayne...
