Using it to control production tools remotely.

Let's see if you're now going to tell me that trying to do that from a 3.2" smartphone screen is a good idea....

    MARKETING.

    It's completely impractical.

Its yet another pointless gadget that's some silly tween sized laptop/smart phone that can't multi-task, doesn't have enough space to be worth anything, and serves as nothing but a 'look what i bought' accessory.

    RIP Steve Jobs.

He seemed like a good person to me. I can't say anything from experience, I never had a beer with the guy or anything, but he never came on TV or made a public appearance and just acted like a straight-up d-bag.

You can choose to do whatever you wish with his legacy. You can say that his success was a product of ingenuity or marketing. You can say that he revitalized the technology industry or that he sold America out. You can call him a hero or a huckster. At the end of the day, an American died who went out there and did something bigger than what most of us did. He was killed by cancer, a disease that we still can't control; proven by one of the most affluent Americans dying, for you cancer-cure conspiracists. In the end, he gave us inspiration to act, whether with his products or against his ideas. That's more than I can say about most other corporate tools who want to make windfalls of money off an American market that has little to spare.

Don't confuse him with facts. I work in post and most producers and tech guys use them on shoots. From logging, using ipad as a smart slate, remote uses, etc.

iPad is as useful or as useless as you want it to be. All tablets are. Depends what you are getting it for. My father got one to use it as basically a large iphone when he went on trips and it was extremely useful since he was losing his sight and he could actually see the screen.

Again....not sure why some feel the need to bash other's choice except to somehow make them feel better with their own.

I am writing this from an iPad, I mostly agree except it is a lot easier to take away or just use around the house instead of taking the laptop everywhere.

The funny thing is you know the apple fanboys are around boasting osx is infallible. It's funny to read and I know these guys are the ones with an apple sticker on their car.

Apples are good, they're not the best and they are certainly not perfect. They are definitely overpriced and they resell almost the same thing on a yearly or bi-yearly basis (iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4g, 4gs, iPad, ipad2, etc etc)

I'm not sure why Jobs wasn't more of a philanthropist. I don't know a lot of his bio, but I heard he donated very little of his money. He lived in a modest home considering, wasn't greedy that way. Not sure of his reasons for that...

How does anyone know what Jobs did or did not donate and why does it matter in terms of what he did with Apple?

What people donate is very public, unless he donated anonymously. If he did, I respect that even more.

Why does that matter in terms of what he did with Apple?...Nothing really, it only matters in terms to what kind of human being he was. I'm only curious as to why he didn't use his excess wealth to try and improve human conditions. It wasn't because he lived a selfishly excessive lifestyle, so why then?...that's all I was wondering...

I'm not an Apple guy but I take zero pleasure in Jobs passing.
