Steven A. Smith on Jamarcus Russell

In my opinion......

I wish more broadcasters would lay into some athletes like this. He said exactly what everybody thought and was on the money.

 

ehh... he's always like that.... either too far right or too far wrong...
i watched this live... and he has some good points.. russell never cared for the game... just the money... now that he's running out of money he wants back into the game? yeahno

 

So is Jamarcus Russell also a bona fide scrub?

The only thing that keeps Jamarcus Russell from being a bigger bust than Ryan Leaf is the lack of him having his named attached to a guy like Peyton Manning.

 

I think it's safe to say that he's a bigger bust than Ryan Leaf. San Diego didn't pass on Peyton they just made a really bad pick by taking Leaf, dude was just not mentally tough enough to handle the pressure of being an NFL QB.

But with Russell Oakland took him #1 when they could have taken Calvin Johnson (who Al Davis admitted that Lane Kiffin wanted instead) or Adrian Peterson.

 

Can't believe that JaWalrus Russell just turned 26...

If he can play, he deserves a shot, IMO. If he screws up or can't play or can't stay in shape, then he's out.

Surprise... I actually agree with Jamarcus Russel on what he said about Tom Cable.

I don't think he deserves a second chance either, but yo the Raiders weren't sh!+ under Tom Cable... With or w.o Russel. It's one thing for a player to blame a coach. That's out of line.

But a coach should neverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr single out a player and put that kind of blame on him in the media. It just makes you look like a bad coach.
