There's a reason there isn't a lottery in place for the NFL Draft, if you're the worst team in the league you deserve the #1 pick no question.

Could you imagine a situation where a lottery was in place back in the '09 draft and the 11-5 Patriots (by process of not making the playoffs) had a lottery ball? That right there would have been a total rig job had they won the lottery over the 0-16 Lions.

Well how about a lottery for those that do not make it in the playoffs? Are sub .500 teams?

Its not like Detroit really benefited from all those receivers they took in the last decade. Only one is still with the team.

Not only do you have to think about if Peyton would OK that, but I don't know If Andrew Luck would want to wait under the best QB of all time for at least 3-4 mroe seasons. We could potentially see Eli Manning 2.0

the odds of that are ridiculously low...And teams in the NBA with winning records are still eligible for the #1 pick as long as they don't make the playoffs so I don't see what your point is..

the reason there is no lottery for the NFL is because its stupid and the NBA should do away with it..

If teams want to tank let them tank, there is no way to prove or discipline that.

I said that with my post and even if the odds are ridiculously low it's still a possibility. I agree with you if a franchise wants to purposely tank a season to draft a "Franchise Savior" it's their choice and they will pay the price for it like Cincy is doing not being able to sell out a home game and having their games blacked out locally when they've been really good this year.
