You don't finish 31st in rushing offense and bring back the same personnel.

I don't care how good he is... an RB in the NFL can't be 30 million dollars good.

Pair that with his lack of production- not a hard call. Cut and save.

I'm wondering how Titan Jeff got 8 high fives for pasting the same exact quote that was already pasted just 2 posts prior. Did those people read the first post?

Not that i mind Jeff getting his props..

It pains me to say this but i do basically agree with Duece on this one. Good backs always seem to get the yards no matter what the line.

The issue with CJ is consistency. He wasn't that good last year if you think about it. He would look like a backup for 17 carries and have one 29 yard run that would get his average over 4 ypc.

Is he worth $8M for next year in salary? Not based on on his performance this season or last.

The most simplistic way to look at CJ's contract..

If we don't release him before the march cut off he gets an $8M salary this year.

It's the same for 2013 when his salary will be $9M.

The Saints deal of Reggie Bush to the fins is revealing here. The Saints got rid of a financial liability with no loss in talent and the fins got a good back for very little.

Reggie Bush who is having a career season running the ball is playing on a 2 year $9.75M contract. $4.87M a year.

The Saints got very little for him from Miami and would have cut him for nothing had they not made a deal.

Look at Darren Sproles who the Saints signed as a free agent. His contract is 4 years for only $14M.

Point is we can find a back who can give us 4 yards a carry if that back doesn't already exist on the team for much less than we have to pay CJ.

This line was bad last year but CJ was still able to get the yards. Whether it's down to a new blocking scheme or terrible play from Scott,Amano,Harris none of our backs have been able to get yards.

Ringer and Harper have been just as unproductive as CJ behind our line.

We rank last in the league by a long way in terms of running the ball.
Most of our runs designed to get CJ to the edge or off tackle.

It's as if Palmer/Munchak acept the interior line is awful and are calling running plays to work around that. We have a serious problem withour O line and it urgently needs fixing.

I agree that it's easy today to find a serviceable RB for good value but if you have one that's special you're lucky and should play to their strengths.

Is CJ worth his current salary? No.
Could Arian Foster run behiind our line? Yes but it wouldn't be pretty and his ypc would suffer.

Has CJ lost a step? Apparently but I question how much of it is down to confidence. He's hesitant and doesn't seem to open the jets even when in space. Whe he was caught from behind by the Colts he just seemed to be jogging. No way was he running in full stride. Why, who knows?

Give him a full off season in Nashville and I think he'll bounce back.

Jake Scott and Amano are painful to watch. Our number 1 priority this off season should be to overall the midle of the O line.

If you have to juke right after receiving the ball, you aren't going to have time to scan the field.....

Actually, that wasn't part of the OP so I thought it relevant to the topic. The OP added it later. I assume he didn't see I had already posted it.

the only thing we should change the offense for is to focus on our strength and our future...locker and defense...

cj is washed up cant get it done--should of traded him when his demand was high last season like i said not he sucked all year and we couldnt get half his value now like we could before the season when i called for trading him...
