I believe they were calling JPP extremely raw coming out of college too. It'd be great if they roll the dice on raw talent, and it develops like he has. I haven't seen much of Coples 2012 campaign, but the little of what I've watched in 2011 wasn't that exciting.

Yea JPP proved being a one year wonder isn't a bad thing.

It's highly doubtful we get coples, I'd say maybe less than a 5% chance.

Glaring need at S...glaring need OL, let alone the d line will need a rush DE

Moving into the top 10 would take some shimy shimy that we don't do.

Top 3 positions drafted... QB, LT, DE.... Weak DE class means he goes early.

Coples seems unlikely, Mercilus risky. Ingram seems like a good pick

I must admit I don't watch a lot of College ball though. What do you all think of Nick Perry, DE from USC? SI Mock has us taking him at 20.

I have only heard of him in the past 2-3 weeks. CBS actually has him ranked as the #1 DE. I'll have to look into it more but I find it surprising that someone who's supposedly as good as he is has flown under the radar.

This might be beating a dead horse, but I say instead of taking a risk on a draft pick who may or may not pan out, let's sign Mario Williams. Especially since, as someone brought up Witherspoon is at the moment our highest paid defensive player at $3.5 per year (though Hope, Griff, and Finny all being FA's make that stat possible). Let's spend some money on the defensive side of the ball.

im all for taking williams but if we are talking about drafting a d end....i wouldnt be mad if we decided to stay at 20 and took ingram but me personally would love for us to trade up to around the 10-12 range and take coples...the kid is a stud

he has had 3 decent years...1 of them being very good...plus i like curry but he is small at only 242....

a 6'6 275-285 ive seen him weighing both...and he has speed to go with it my bet is with coples being the better one but that could depend on what system they get put into...

By the end of the offseason, will have 2-3 defensive players making more than Witherspoon. Some may be our own players resigned, some will be UFA's.

I'd be content with Ingram or Perry as the pick.

Everyone said the Titans wanted JPP and they narrowly missed getting him. Now they are seeing what happens when you take a high risk, high reward player and it works out. JPP is an absolute monster and it hurts to not have him.

This leads me to believe that the Titans won't hesitate to take a raw talent with high upside at DE in this draft.

Plus, the Titans already have the "safe" (high floor, medium ceiling) defensive end on the roster and his name is Derrick Morgan. The team can afford to take on some risk.
