morgan hasnt gotten it done at de in a 4-3 what makes you think he would at olb(where he has never played)? until morgan shows me he can get close to 10 sacks i wouldnt trust him...

I'm not so sure he would get it done at OLB, but Jerry Gray said he'd move Morgan to OLB if we did do 3-4 stuff.

He actually said he could stand Morgan up if he had to.

I wouldn't build a team around him. I would look to FA to add some competition. A. Franklin is a FA who was effective for the 49ers as their NT in their 3-4. I also think that Casey could play NT as well as play DE.

I agree that Morgan would have to move to OLBer.

I would put Klug and Casey at DE. Marks and Zack Clayton could be DEs in a 3-4 as well.

I can name a list of OLber for a 3-4 in the upcoming draft, but the number of elite pass rushing DEs who can stop the run is very small.

It's not like Gray doesn't mix things up a bit. He said last year that we'll be running a 4-3 but with some 3-4 looks to it. I don't think some people understand what a shortened off season can do with the youngest defense in the NFL. Morgan showed a lot of talent those last two games of the season and with him getting better I really like him next year. Just add another DE that can get to the QB and sure up the DT position and we're good.

btw Shaun Smith should be cut

No doubt their were some bad 3-4 teams, but if you look at the top 10 teams in sacks and the top 10 teams against the run they are dominated by 3-4 teams. If you look at the bottom 10 in each category they are dominated by 4-3 teams.

The big difference that I see between the 2 schemes is that the 3-4 is more likely to create a breakdown in communication amongst the OL and QB than a 4-3 and thus create a sack opportunity. The 3-4 is harder to run against because of the big bodies that clog the middle and the bigger Lbers to set the edge.

I like where this is going.

I want to see how much CJ's pass rush skills are going to improve :wink2:

At least Munchak realizes how big of a problem the pass rush is.
