This is exactly what I figured would happen. As bad as Griffin is with this weak free agent safety class coupled with the weak safety class in the draft franchising Griffin just had to happen. The funny thing is I think he would have been left unprotected if there were a better option in free agency.

    this.
line play overall keeps the secondary from doing too much.
if the majority of plays are making it to your secondary ,you have bigger issues

I wanted Dashon Goldson, but he got tagged surprisingly too.

I hate Griffin, I'd rather have cheerleader playing safety, at least she's supposed to have long hair and hit like a girl.

Bye Finny, thanks for always giving 110%, we will miss your leadership and tenacity.

Griffin didn't play for UT. He played for Tejas.

It's one year of the best option out there at a reasonable price. The guy knows the D. I'm sure we will draft a safety- maybe even early.

Finny is a "pretty good" CB. His best skill is against the run- set up on blitzes or nickel. His cover skills are average and he frequently gets torched by prime WR's. He just isn't that athletic as some of the best in the game. He is able to do OK by playing borderline "dirty". He definitely isn't worth 10 mill/year. I'm sure the FO will let him test FA and see what the league thinks he's worth. I figure we'll offer Finny a contract if the market values him realistically as we do- somewhere around 4 year 28 mill. If the market values him higher- then good for him. We'll definitely be better by not overpaying this guy. (And I rarely, if ever, make a statement like that.)

Almost every single person on this forum loves Finnegan and wants to keep him. The front office clearly doesn't value him nearly as highly. This could end up being a great test of the "I could be a better GM for the Titans" theory that many espouse.

    too many negative nancies here....
there could always be a chance that Griffin shows an improvement ("so you're saying there's a chance...")
Finnegan showed up last year after a horrid year before....

I know you guys don’t like Griffin, but we really didn’t have a choice. We would have been outbid by all the other teams for any safety that would have been an upgrade. And there is only one first round talent at the safety position (who probably will not fall to us). I have wanted this to happen all along.

On the brightside if we can improve our pass rush significantly, it makes the secondary look better. Griff had his best season in ’08 with 7 interceptions and that was when Albert was dominating at DT. Griff always plays better when he has a better supporting cast. So maybe that is the front office’s thinking.

Also, I know he hasn’t played well in the past two years, but I never thought he was so far gone he couldn’t return to the player he once was.

    This team is fcking hopeless.

I'm close to giving up. Never thought I could ever lose my fandom of a team, but when you can see their braindead moves coming from miles away- almost as if they're either purposely sabotaging the team or just incompetent of making decent decisions... it's tough to continue caring what this team does during the season.

Griffin shouldn't be starting for ANYONE. And I'd rather test Finnegan at his position while being tagged than to have Michelle back there standing flat-footed awaiting to be trucked by running backs every play.

Guy plays with ZERO heart. A couple deflected balls that fall in to his hands doesn't make him a "playmaker". It makes him lucky.

Our new resident Donnie Nickey, everyone. Grrreeaat.
