It's a slippery slope is what it is. Pure and simple.

The cause is obviously one that we should all care about. Child soldiers being forced to kill their parents is all kinds of messed up.

The charity behind this, however, has a lot of question marks. I'd urge you all to look into that before giving them any of your money.

Thanks for posting those links. I do agree with what you said and I think those articles make some very valid points especially about the invisible children organization. However I still support this video. I dont think that the video is directed towards removing Kony as the main goal. I realize that he is the focus and they are trying to make him famous but at the same time it is shedding light on the whole issue over there and as the article states removing one guy is not going to solve anything. The more people that become aware of these issues the better. I will not be supporting the invisible children organization though and think its horrible if they are using issues like this to build a brand / increase their bank accounts.

Dont see an issue with more people getting informed and caring about global issues. If nothing else they will watch this video, do some research of their own and come to their own conclusions. Id rather see our youth do that then listen to lil wayne youtube videos or play video games.

Without the Invisible Children org, none of this comes in to fruition.

Always some hipster know-it-all that has to try to knock a good cause. Not even I played that role this time.

None of what comes to fruition? The guy is still at large. There have been several charities working to change that. All that has come to fruition so far is that one particular charity got famous and informed a lot of people about the issue. It's likely that that is a good thing and it will help the cause. Ultimately, all that matters is that people stop being killed and exploited.

To suggest that it's somehow not a good thing to think critically about this whole thing from a broad lens is foolish, though. Checks and balances are never a bad thing.

Hey we should all at least tweet and share this. Great touch adding that kid to the video.

    Not saying that either.

By fruition, I mean without Invisible Children- 90% of the people that know what's going on right now wouldn't.

Hell, this is America- where 99% of the people didn't know about Rwandan genocide or Darfur until they watched Don Cheadle on the big screen.

Invisible Children were the ones that got this movement started- they're the reason it's trending again, and the reason now far more people know about it than they did a week back or further.

My thing is- if you want to complain about it, find a better organization and link us to that one. Otherwise, shut it. 32% from The group that makes the most money by way of extremely quality marketing, film, etc is better than 100% from the group that makes little to nothing, also.

Only complaint with IC I have is their support for the Ugandan military.
