The "it was the other guy" reasoning.
Always solid. We had quite a few more wins back then also.

I'm a UT fan I just don't pretend we are something that we are not.

Titans would have had an off season plan for free agency, and Bud has derailed it. Now they have to scramble to adapt.

Best case scenario now is that they get Manning and he's healthy enough to play... Titans would then be playoff competitors for a couple of years.

Worst case they lose out on Manning, and miss out on signing the players they were originally targeting... Slowing the rebuilding process and ticking off both our QBs

The "ticking off both QB's" thing doesn't bother me one bit..

MH is a vet and understands this is a business. Locker is still young and is likely gonna begin day 1 on the bench next year anyways.

This Manning saga has been more of a middle finger to Tebow who lead his Broncos to the playoffs.. What about the Jets putting their feet in the water and then having to extend Sanchez instead? That looked dumb.. What about the Cards? If they lose out, Kolb remains their guy this year.

Plenty of teams taking risks on "offending" their QB's here.. Our situation is better IMO..

If either Hasselbeck or Locker get their feelings hurt over this, they don't understand their value and need to come back to planet Earth.

Hass getting mad that a team wants Peyton Manning to start over him?... Uh. I like Hasselbeck, but I'm sure he understands that 32 of 32 teams would take Manning over him.

Locker is 1 year in. He may be itching for his chance to prove himself, but again... 32 of 32 teams would start Manning over him without question. And rightfully so.

He is saying if this was any other teams scenario. 32/32 would start Manning over Locker.

I sure am tired of Bud demanding what this team does regarding the quarterback position and I'm sure the F.O. and coaches hate is as well. Peyton Manning or not lets face the facts; he's 36 coming off of 3 neck surgeries and the nerves have still not regenerated properly. Peyton will demand at least a 5 year deal, I think, so where the hell does that leave Locker who we spent the 8th friggin' pick on? Locker is not going to hang around for 5 years holding a clipboard and I don't blame him.

Now if we took Aldon Smith instead of Locker then I'd be on board with signing Manning but that didn't happen we already have our franchise QB in place. We need another weapon on offense, fix the center position, get some pass rush and some help on the back end and watch out. I bet were another year or so from really making a run if we stay the course.

    5 years? He's looking at 3-4 years.

And let's be honest, it's the damn NFL. So easy to release players. I'd like Manning to play 2 years for us.

4-5 who cares. I bet the team that signs him does so for 5 years. Either way we have a 40 year old QB with nerve damage and we will have wasted Locker.
