i agree with your post and don't mean to gut anything but highlighted this part of it to say that we'd be set back.

originally, the way our new GM looks/sounds the team would have signed more linemen on both sides of the ball had they not been pursing PM so aggressively.

i do agree that an effective and healthy PM can cover up a lot of things and thats why i was OK with pursuing him - assuming he'd help Lock and get out of his way in 2/3 years.

if we don't get him, i would have been OK with it had we signed or somehow acquired at least one good DE. Again, the fact that this late into FA we only have 2 on our roster (Morgan and Sheppard) is very troubling.

i touted the G-men for their style of continually getting linemen and thought we'd follow suit....

 

The Seahawks are a joke. They trade for Whitehurst, sign Jackson. Let Hasselbeck walk. Sign Flynn.

That Whitehurst trade was a big time head scratcher..

 

There is no doubt about that. It has seemed like the Pete/ Snyder combo were good at evaluating talent in every area except QB. But getting Flynn gives me hope. I think he is a good one. we'll see.

I think the 9ers should sign Smith. Otherwise, they risk Kaepernick starting and missing the playoffs after just being a Super Bowl contender.

 

49ers are in a bit of a tough place and this could kinda put them out of Manning contention if he waits too long to make a decision.
But apparently Smith isn't happy they looked at Manning so he could be shopping out of spite.
