If he were really a coward, he would have retired and not potentially risked his legacy. I don't know why he chose Denver over Tennessee, but I'm sure he had his reasons. Maybe he wanted a fresh start. Maybe he knew that Munch didn't really want him. Maybe he felt Hass deserved better. Maybe he never wanted to go to Tennessee and he was just trying to be "polite". Maybe he truly felt Denver was the better opportunity. Maybe it was about the money and he got more.

I "hate" the guy, but I wouldn't call him a coward.

I think it boiled down to Elway being there (maybe they like to smell each other's jock strap) and Denver being willing to get rid of Tebow. Manning likes no-names to be his back up.

This is funny as heck reading all of these comments ...

Lot of you are saying; "Manning is dead to me" "He is a whiner" "Greedy" "Slapin the face"
"Coward" and the list goes on ... These comments here would tell an outsider that the average age is pushing 16 ??? You guys are better than that ... No need to be Butt hurt

The guy did nothing more than any of you would do... He made a business decision based on what he deemed important for his family, future, and financials... Right, wrong, or indifferent Whether you were pro Peyton or not it was his decision to make

The Colts flat sucked last year devoid of talent and decided to clean house and cut him ... Lot of speculation and rumors about him re-structuring, but from what I have gathered he was not given that option and a new direction was taken.... Hope it works out...

Your owner Bud Adams approached Manning not the other way around and he at least considered the Titans as opposed to a flat out "no thanks" as the Seahawks heard...

Regardless of all that just beat the @%$# out of the Texans this year

I really don't see it being about money, but honestly why else would he chose Denver? San Fran and Tennessee were the 2 best situations for Peyton IMO. If it were me, I would have definitely gone to San Francisco. Top defense, solid running game, and the receiving core isn't great, but you've seen what Peyton can do with mediocre talent around him.

I really do think this is something to be thought about.

Ive said all along "what happens if Manning wants to play more than 2 years".

Manning HAS to be "the guy"

plain and simple he was scared to return to Tennessee because of the pressure Bud put on him to win a championship.

    He's a coward.

Honestly I think he went to Denver because he will be more of a God to their fanbase than he would have been here or in SF.

49ers: He would have been compared endlessly to Montana and Young, he'd get sick of it. He doesn't wanna be in anybody's shadow.

Titans: He knew that we were only interested after Bud demanded we be interested. You know he saw through that.

Denver: He won't be compared to Elway because they're totally different styled QBs. And the clincher is not just the money but the fact that he's taking Tim Tebow's job. Going from arguably the worst passing QB in the league to the most accurate QB around is enough to keep the pressure off of him. Even at 75% Peyton is still a 100X better passer than Tebow. He knows that, less pressure more money.
