This is partially a draft/ free agency problem on our part.

If our guys leave and aren't doing well... maybe it's because we haven't had the elite guys to begin with. Then again, most players aren't worth their salary whether they were free agents or draft picks so maybe this argument isn't worth much to begin with.

CJ/Roos/Stewart/Craig Stevens/ Donnie Nickey all disagree.

That CJ deal was one of the best I've ever seen for any player in any position and props to our FO for that. We've got easy outs if we choose to take them.

its a two way street. Titans were way too loyal to EG, as a for instance. How did EG repay the Titans - by signing with the cowbois

Well at least we showed class locking McNair out of the training facility...

I don't think I'll ever forgive him, mason, and rolle for going to the ravens.

That's quite a selective memory you have... Alex is right, they have rewarded their fair-share with big paydays

Amano also got a big contract a few years ago, they gave Bironas a nice extension, I remember they gave Bulluck a big contract after his rookie deal, and they actually gave KVB $20mil after his first year in Nashville.

I think that's a fair point. If the Titans FO has been able to do anything successfully it is find guys that will fit their system. Every defensive end that has played well outside of Kearse (if he hadn't been hurt we don't know how he would have done in Philly) has simply fit our system. Maybe that is why Tenn rarely sees their free agents and cast-offs do well elsewhere. If that is the case maybe their careers would have had a more successful path had they been re-signed.

Lorenzo Neal is another who had success after the Titans, but I don't remember the circumstances under which he left.

Maybe but other teams have done a much better job.

Look at the Colts ability to find players for their Defense. The Giants seem to find endless depth at LB and in their Secondary.

We've been OK but not great at finding players. Last seasons draft was the first in a long time that yielded more than just a couple of players.

We always seem to be looking for a key player in all areas of our Defense. IMO is we focus on the D Line players like Griffin are made to look a lot better.

We've done this with the O line but unfortunately Amano didn't work out at Centre and it's cost us dearly.

The Giants focus on strength accross the D line which allows them to start weaker players at at LB and in the secondary.

The Colts only invested in pash rushers on their D line and speed because they banked on defending a lead.

The Titans definitely could have done a better job of finding personnel, after all they have little to show for the work they've done, but I wasn't really trying to compare what Tenn has done against other teams. For a franchise that doesn't like to spend money and doesn't have a dominant player (like you mentioned with the Colts) they have done pretty well filling gaps, IMO.
