At the same time..if Hass can't beat out Locker, he shouldn't start.

Locker should get the nod if they come out even. We did see Locker in limited action in his Rookie year. This camp you will see a much improved Locker.

If Hass gets hurt or is gimpy I don't see the front office keeping him in like last year.

I agree. If that happens again this year they won't hold Locker back anymore.Locker will go in if anything goes wrong with Hasselbeck.

well considering hass didnt make the playoffs this year with what i consider to be a playoff caliber team...id say its broke. and i was just pointing out hes over the 50% mark that according to you makes him "ready" and yes this is a playoff team...and no better with hass. why not put in lokcer...sure we might not make the playoffs with him this year though id bet we do and get reaady for a superbowl caliber team in a year or two with all our great young players. instead of stalling that and losing key players to big contracts elsewhere.

We know what Matt Hasselbeck is. You are correct, Hasselbeck will be healthy.....the first game, after that it's a crap shoot. My how some of us choose to have selective amnesia. If I would have come on here immediately following the season last year and asked, "So guys, who wants to do this again next year with Matt Hasselbeck?" I don't think many of us would have been raising our hands.

However, the farther and farther away we get from that Texans game, the better and better Matt Hasselbeck begins to look in your memories of last season. You remember that last game of the year in Houston don't you? The game in which the playoffs were on the line for us, the game in which which the Texans gave us the game after Matt Hasselbeck could not put away their 3rd string, you remember that one?

Do you really want to go through that again this year? Think about it. We all know, including those advocating for Hasselbeck, exactly what would happen if he were to start this year. It looks something like 1-5 and Hasselbeck comes down with a nagging injury that just will not seem to heal, so we have to go with Locker. The Colts used a "concussion" with Kerry Collins, but you can choose whatever injury you like. The point is he will not, in fact, be "healthy" for very long next year if he were to start week one.

I think this coaching staff is smart enough to have the foresight to see what would happen if they tried to start Hasselbeck. Fortuanetly, Fisher and his ways are gone. Munchack doesn't have time to play favorites with the washed up veteran, thank heavens for us Titan fans.

Look around, no other team in the league is going with the gimpy veteran route anymore...that's because they want to win as soon as possible. And I don't mean 8-8 win, I'm talking real, being able to compete with the big boys winning.
Munchack has said there won't be a QB controversy, starting Hasselbeck would be asking for a controversy. There was one just past the midway point last year. So unless Locker has regressed from last year, I don't see how he dosen't win the job. I'm looking forward to it.

You lost me right here. The point of an argument is to try and win, which we all know.

And to counter that point, I ask this. Remember when Locker took that sack on 4th down and ended up losing the game because of it? Some of you guys on both sides pick and choose what you want to remember. A vet does not make mistakes like that. Hass was on fire last year with a new offense, no running game, and losing our best receiving threat. He held that offense together for the majority of the season. Then the injuries started to take their toll. I do not agree with the coaches decision to keep him out there, but that was not his fault.

I am a fan of Locker and REALLY hope he beats out Hass, but come at me with a better argument than that next time.

It wasn't an argument, I'm just noting what would happen with our schedule and Matt Hasselbeck starting next year. We know how that would end, so why, if Locker is indeed what he showed us last year, would we want to go through that process with Hasselbeck.

Do you see how you are now to the point of critsizing Jake Locker over one play of a game in which, without him, we wouldn't have even had a chance to win that game in the final play. You are pointing out one bad play out of numerous good plays of an extremely talented, extremely promising young QB, who we took 8th overall. Do you see a problem there?

Should I start criticizing and going over all of hasselbecks bad plays and mistakes? I could probably think of more than one, but that's not the point. I don't have to knit pick at every single play to try to win an "argument".

You can keep trying to make an argument for Hasselbeck, but as far as I'm concerned there's no argument there. We all know Hasselbeck isn't going to take us to where we want to be. So where's the "argument"?

It's nothing personal, it's just about their play on the field and moving forward with this franchise.

Sorry, I did not mean argument as in "screw you and your opinion" I meant it as a disagreement between two people and the discussion along with it.

Like I said, don't get me wrong, I think Locker will get the starting spot. I do not believe that they have a gigantic spread between them and I think he will get the nod by the end of preseason.

Locker did preform well in limited time, but lets take into account that he was not the starter, most of the time, and teams had very little game film on him. It has hard going from a statue like QB to a guy who is mobile. Especially when the mobile guy has fresh legs coming in later in the game. I do not believe to use Locker's games from last season as an "end all" argument for him to start.

Yes, Hass will PROBABLY not take us to the Super Bowl. It is safe to assume that Locker will not be able to next year either. We do have an argument here because it comes down to a guy who has "been there, done that" and a guy who "has loads of potential, and the future".

Nobody can really say who is better right now, I think everyone is hoping that it is a fair camp and preseason. That is all anyone is asking. Which was my whole point of this thread. It seems like the coaching staff is really going to micro analyze everything.

We didn't lose that game because Locker took that sack. We wouldn't have been IN that game if Locker didn't take over. He drove the ball all the way down the field on the SAINTS and then made an indecision on the final play where TWO of our receivers were grabbed and/or tripped.

Hasselbeck had trouble moving the ball against the better teams. And he DID actually cost us games last season. Locker outplayed Hasselbeck in EVERY showing last season.

He had plenty of bad games up at Washington altho I doubt they booed.

Want to make a $ bet that Locker does not mental midget like VY and throw his shoulder pads in the stands and disappear from Momma's?
