Is it fair to say he hasn't be better than average? He has 17 interceptions, which I believe places him 4th out of all NFL safeties (active, of course). He had a 100-tackle season in 2010.

I readily admit his failings. He makes some of the softest tackles I have ever seen. But, for what he is or what he should be--a ball-hawking free safety--he is definitely better than average.

I am not ready to write him off yet. As I said earlier in the thread, I think he can be an impact free safety if he ever gets a good pass rush in front of him again. People just need to stop expecting him to be a run-stuffing strong safety or the kind of guy who lays out wide receivers going over the middle. Those are not the strong points of his game.

Hearing that the total package for Michael Griffin is in the $35 million range. Report is deal is for 5 years.

Fair points. He definitely had his moments. Consistency is his main problem. He is prone to long droughts of suckage.

And I agree he can be an impact player if he has a good pass rush. But so would a lot of other guys. I'm just not sure a player that is so dependent on the talent around him is really worth that kind of money (if those numbers are even true to begin with).

I'm very surprised, I was thinking more around $5 million give or take per year. We'll see how he does now that he's been paid. Maybe he'll have a fire up his arse.

Awful. 5 more years of truck sticks, excuses, and highlight reels. Rarely have I've seen this dude actually make a play on the ball to pick it off. Usually it's tipped or falls in to his hands.

Getting paid in the NFL doesn't fire a player up. Use Albert Haynesworth, for example.

MY GOD. What the f* kind of pictures does he have of this staff???

Why would we award a player for being total sh**??!

    MAKE HIM EARN IT.

You hand a garbage player a payday like this when he needs to be proving he deserves a roster spot?! (and he clearly doesnt)

This guy wouldn't be starting for most teams in the league and we pay his bum azz 7 mill a year?

This team is hopeless. Can't pay Finnegan but we can pay this garbage scrub to blow assignments 5 times a game and whiff or get trucked every time someone is near him.

    Embarrassing.

And Michael Griffin should feel guilty. He's going to hell for this.

    F*** him.
