I've just tried to stay even keel about the situation. I'm not gonna be a "told you so" guy if Hasselbeck doesn't perform, but I think its time to hand the keys to Locker. He really couldn't have done more last season when he had his opportunities. I'll save my judgement till pre-season though.

There is just something about Locker that I love. I just can't quite figure it out yet.

It might be his ability to convince you he's a F-ing winner. If you compare his interviews to others like Mike Vick, Tom Brady, and Philip Rivers, they all make you believe they're the sh*t and they got this.

I've seen every single interview Jake has done since his senior year at Washington, and in everyone of them you feel like he's the man.

You MUST have that leadership quality in order to win, he has that "it" factor.

That might be that something you're talking about.

So do you want Locker to be our starter come week 1?

    Absolutely.

If he starts week-1, it'll mean he's ready to. But if he doesn't, I'm more than ready to give the guy another 6-7 weeks to get to where he needs to get to.

I trust Hasselbeck enough to run with him a month or two.

Jake is fearless, tough SOB that won't flinch.
The first time I saw him play at Washington I was hooked.
Every game was like watching a man lay it all on the line to lift an overmatched team up and make them competitive.

I view Jake as a combination of Tebow and Matt Stafford.

Tebow + Stafford? I could live with that type of QB for years

    I love Stafford's arm.

What you are saying makes zero sense. If Hass starts and Locker ends up taking over in mid season it doesn't mean Locker is now ready. It means Hass didn't get it done. So if Hass didn't get it done why the heck do we let him start to begin with. No matter who starts at QB, barring a meltdown (like Hass had last year?) the other guy is not going to take over anything unless he deserves to be benched. There is no way Munch is going into the year thinking he can start Hass for 6-7 weeks and then hand the ball to Locker.

No it makes perfect sense. It's really not about Hass so much as its about Locker. This whole process has always been about the Titan's QB of the future. Everything from letting Vince go, to signing Hass, and to drafting Locker has been about the future of the QB position in Nashville.

JC is saying that for our future (Locker) to start would mean that Locker would be ready to go week 1. If he doesn't, then it is very clear that Locker still needs about half a season to ramp up especially with such a tough schedule out the gate. Hass would be the better option. I as well put a lot of faith into our coaching staff and there ability to make the right decision. Locker is our future, so lets do it right. We saw what happens first hand with Vince, as well as other QBs, when you throw a QB in too early.

Lets not intimate Locker or put him in a position to develop nervous ticks (Bradford/Carr), or throw him so quickly that he never gets a chance to step back and digest what he has learned (Vince).

You can't see Munch using Hass for 6-7 weeks? I as well as others can absolutely see that being the case unless Hass and the Titans dominates the first two months. If we don't dominate or if Hass gets injured (Extremely likely) then Locker is in.

Comparing football teams is always tricky but this reminds me of a potential Bledsoe/Brady moment and they went off to win the Superbowl. So just because we have a QB competition or potential switch mid season doesn't mean it bumps us out of the race. If anything it benefits us in multiple ways.
