Yeah, he will. He does. And he will continue to be inaccurate. The Titans are kidding themselves if they think that chronic inaccuracy can be cured.

I think you're blowing his inaccuracy issues out of proportion. Did you watch him play last year? I saw plenty of positive attributes that outshined his accuracy problems. Locker can take over a game. He plays all out, and with passion. He is explosive, very physical, and can move the ball down the field. He has what it takes to be a great QB. I'm not saying that he undoubtedly will, but he can. If you can't see that because you're too focused on his short range accuracy problem to the left and right, then that's your problem. That's probably not going to stop him from being a successful QB in the NFL. Sounds to me that you're just sore that we didn't draft your guy.

He looked like one of the best rookie QB's last year in his limited time. Cam no doubt had an amazing season but after him Locker outshined the others. The thing that surprised me most about Locker last year was how poised and in control he looked while on the field. You could of course tell at times that he was learning, but his ceiling is very high. I think his ability to run, makes him a much more dangerous option than Hasselbeck.

We've got the fastest RB in the NFL. We've got 2 fast TE's, fast WR's, and a mobile QB who's accuracy increases on the move could make our offense tops in the league.

The more I think about the situation, the more I think its time to start Locker. He has the maturity to takeover the position and learn against some of the best competition he'll play against. If he can perform against our first 4 competitors, we'll be set for the season.

He performed well against both the Falcons and Saints last year. They were playoff caliber teams.

Just throwing things out there, but according to Jake, he's never had accuracy issues. But in games he had to throw a lot in, he was only completing 46% of his throws. To many of the Hass haters, those numbers are bad aren't they? Luckily for you guys numbers don't tell the whole story. Just by looking at the numbers you can't tell Jake only came off the field once in ATL because he didn't convert on downs.

Point is, don't try telling me Hass sucks because of his numbers.

Nobody's saying that Hasselbeck sucks. I want to have him around as a backup for years to come. If he's not required to play an entire season, he could be a great QB for us and allow us to be competitive much longer. Think about it.

If Locker goes down, we don't miss a beat. We slightly adjust our gameplan and then we get a fresh Hasselbeck. The games we could win or lose due to not having a backup could determine if we make the playoffs or not.

While Hasselbeck is securely our #2 guy, we draft someone who fits our style (possibly someone with Locker's attributes), and we groom him behind Hasselbeck and Locker. In 2-3 years, we have another solid backup and we can repeat the process.

Hasselbeck was good for us last year. No doubt about it. There were much worse starting QB's we could've ended up with. Or even worse, we couldn't have gotten Locker, and couldn't have gotten Hasselbeck, and we end up with McNabb and Gabbert.

We've got 2 good QB's in Hasselbeck and Locker. What I'm arguing is that Locker outplayed Hasselbeck last year and he's had an entire off-season with the team to improve.

I'll go ahead and call it now. Locker clearly outplays Hasselbeck this pre-season.

Tell me we aren't judging the sum of Jake's accuracy on 66 attempts?

And lets keep some perspective: a 2 time SB Champ/MVP QB comp % for his 1st 2 seasons was 50.5 which is less then Jake's this year 51.5

And can we please define what we mean by 'accuracy' vs 'comp percentage'?
Jake has a low comp for a veteran QB, Jake does not have a low comp for a rookie QB. Also, if you point to Jake's low comp % as a negative you kinda have to turn a blind eye to his QB rating, YPA, playmaking and TDs.

What if Locker was capable of completing, say, 58.4% of his passes in a season? Would that a good enough number in order to consider what else he can bring to the table? Must it be 60% before other factors can even be considered?

And what if he showed numerous times that he does have the ability to thread very tight windows all over the field? Doesn't matter-- just give up on the guy's potential anyway?

And what if he was willing to work really, really hard on his footwork and football IQ, as long and hard as he could, to keep improving himself? Worth giving him a chance to improve himself?

Let me tell you what I saw through his career college career at UW. He had a tendency to sail certain kinds of passes; and he was late getting rid of the football too often especially on timing routes to the sidelines. They were weaknesses in his game. On the other hand, he made big plays a lot. Even though UW was overmatched in probably 60-75% of their games, there was always a feeling that UW had a chance anyway, because Locker could make plays anytime in any situation. The defenses knew it, and planned for it, because there wasn't much else that they had to plan for against UW.

The Titan's comeback effort against the Saints was no fluke-- that was vintage Jake Locker, thinking the team could still make a game of it and working his azz off to get it there, making big plays with his arm legs and athleticism to change the whole momentum, pushing the offense, putting the team in position for a chance to win. If you consider just the variety of big plays made during that comeback effort-- the quick-strike 40 yard bullet for a TD; the roll out and stretch to the pylon before landing smack on his azz five yards OOB: there's only so many QBs in the league who will make both of those plays in the same game.

My point is, don't write this guy off just yet. The NFL isn't just a glamour ego trip for Locker: he knows that he's a superior athlete, and he's in this thing to compete & win along with his teammates. He wants to be a team guy on a winning team. If after his rookie contract is up he still hasn't proven that the Titans hitched their wagon to a promising QB for their future, then I for one will be extremely surprised.

Locker had NO off-season and was playing with all new WR's. I'm not concerned about his completion percentage last season.

He moved the chains better than Matt Hasselbeck when he had the opportunity.

I hope Jake does as well as we all want. He did well last year
with limited playing time. But I can also remember several inexperienced QB.s lighting our team up when called upon. I don't know if its a combination of unfamiliarity of the QB by the defense, a prevent or semi prevent defense or just plain old beginners luck.

I am going to hope for the best, cheer when he does well, gripe like the rest when he will almost certainly make mistakes, have fun watching him learn to read defenses. I might hold my breath when he runs and I would really like to find out what I have hear of his accuracy issues are unfounded.

Matt threw for a lot of yards for us last year. I think we are lucky to have him. But I think its time to hand off the torch to Jake. If he starts the season I believe it will be exciting watching him develop. If not, I know the time is not far off before its his time.
